What have you done to your car today?

The sticker on new part said stabiliser support :D why are they called "D" bushes?
When you hold the rubber bushing flat section vertical and to the left, it looks like a D. :)
Tbf, I always just call it the rear Anti-Roll Bar (ARB) bush.
Doesn't matter, it's the same thing.

:x Managed to park the Zed without any electrical assistance after the alternator had a wobble and then spat its dummy out.
Lovely bit of expenditure incoming for Xmas then. :headbang:

Replaced the AFe intake with the GruppeM today. Interesting back-to-back experience. The AFe is a bit louder inside, despite the GruppeM having the sound generator connected up again. The resonance at 4K rpm between intake and exhaust has gone, bringing a bit more serenity into the cabin at motorway speeds. 100mph is now a lot more pleasant, since the slight drone has completely gone.

The GruppeM has a bit more straight six definition to the sound, if that makes sense. The AFe is more of an event, the GruppeM edges it when it comes to the classic BMW sound. You can’t go wrong with either, and I’d be happy with the AFe if the opportunity to switch hadn’t presented itself.

Oh yeah, also replaced the serpentine belt and tensioner while I was in there.

Really interesting comparison! It sounds like I'll be good with the AFE for the foreseeable future. The GruppeM does look great fitted

Thanks! The AFe really doesn’t disappoint! Sounds great, both inside and outside, and looks good under the bonnet too

MOT today.

Passed.

No advisories.

Not bad for a 20th Century design and 16 year old car with 77k on the clock.

Guy at the garage said it must be well looked after as he saw that it was a 2007 plate and assumed it'd need some work done to get it through.

A cheap "upgrade" :D. Brings back some memories from childhood in the 80's, when riding with my uncle in his Dodge.

Took the Zed to the “Stupid Car Meet” for a spot of spotting and a cup of disappointment from Starsucks

Bad start to the week  20231217_151459.jpg20231218_084000.jpg
Both rears were well past their best anyway and fortunately had 2 x rear PS5s in my garage waiting for the spring. Had to get those slapped on as I'm still waiting for delivery of a pair of rear Pirelli Winter SottoZero...from bloody Germany :? So when they do turn up it'll be all-change again ! Whatever ! Should all be good for MOT in second week of January
