Fixed a small dent from rear arch, hot air followed by a blast with cold spray to -55 C. Almost gone, but can still see it — wheel arch liner off then…
30 Sept, time to SORN the Z4. See you in the spring my old friend. The CLS is the winter workhorse… I do need to check the mileage; last year the Z4 covered less than 1000 miles. If I costed use per mile, given the work I have had done to her, the maths simply wouldn’t make any sense
I don’t know how you two can keep the mileage so low, I have a job keeping it down to 5000 miles per year. That’s mostly afternoon coffee runs with the wife. I see the car sitting on the driveway and have a need for speed Not too fast otherwise she gets annoyed
Fitted a new Bluetooth adaptor today that seems to have done the trick nicely. The previous one I used turned out to be for the cd changer, which explains why it didn't work!
Far better quality than the FM transmitter I was using.
Mine is SORN too, but only for a spot of deep maintenance. Happy to use her on those bright Jan/Feb mornings, but given the time it’s taken me to split one bl**dy ball joint, it may be the summer before she’s out on the road again :x
Not just today, spanned across Friday until today:
Replaced front bump stops, don't have pictures but can take some when I take the struts out again because I realised I did not clock the springs properly on re-assembly... :x
Wire wheeled and painted rear calipers as part of rear end refresh.
Mixed just a bit too much paint so decided to make those two big subrame mounting washers pop and as that was not enough my vice suffered the same fate as some of parts I left bare have been developping surface rust despite being lightly oiled
Ceramic coated my new rims
And received the new set of tyres today. I'll be able to justify putting Michelin stickers on the bumpers
Not done as such, but lots of goodies arrived this morning in anticipation of doing something!
2m of suede scrim foam material and thermo-insulated sound deadening. Also 3d printed side covers all the way from the Netherlands, courtesy of Mmark on here
Would recommend Mmark if anyone is after any. Very reasonably priced compared the the crazy prices on ebay etc - some are up for £250 plus! :|
Look and feel really sturdy. Yet to fit them, so will post some pictures up when they’re trimmed and fitted. Mmark does trim them, but kindly did me a set without fabric so I could trim in the same suede material as the headliner
