What have you done to your car today?

Washed mine the day before also, by hand with watering cans as still have a bl**dy hose pipe ban. Almost did it again today but thought 'what the ****' and went for a nice drive instead to cool down. Was meant to rain here today but as usual they got it wrong  Glad its Sterling Grey and not black :headbang: I will wash it tomorrow though  While you are here, how are you getting on with your MX5 Buzyg?

Washed the car again to get rid of the Saharan dust, looks great. Lets hope we don't get any more of the stuff

What is this rain and Saharan dirt you speak of, we have a heatwave at the moment and no rain for at least a week :D

Organised the second edition of Veicoli ed Espresso today -cars & coffee with an Italian twist- together with my good friend Mika. So gave the Zed a quick wash and refurbed two steering wheel trim pieces that didn’t quite look fresh anymore

Good to go again!

Cleaned out the inside, amazing how dusty it was, hoovered and wife washed the carpets for me. Then took a little drive up the M5 to the Re fuel cafe at Cullompton. Nice place and coffee, very friendly

Took my Zet first time to visit caffeine & machine.. Nice place with some nice cars :)

Disassembling the front corner ready for a full hub replacement, suspension and brake refresh. Can anybody recommend the right sized tool to split the ball joints attaching the kingpin to the track rod and lower wishbone (they look both the same).

I use the scissor type on both

Best advice is to get it to sit well- do the steering one first, then the hub one second and take the abs sensor off otherwise it can slip off and ruin your threads

Also tighten the scissor one, tap the hub with a metal hammer and tighten again repeating until it pops. Don’t just go all out tightening the splitter

Thanks mate. I intend to reuse the track rod and wishbone, so would like to minimise potential for damage if possible. Also the wishbone ball joint is not well sited for whacking with a hammer.

Would you mind sending me a pic of yours or (even better) a link to where I can buy a similar one?

Late to the party as usual but everything Stuart said is spot on. I had one of those for 30 odd years but got a new one from Halfords last year.
As said, don’t rely on forcing it apart. Apply pressure then shock it.

My explanation wasn’t brilliant. But if you watch the vid it shows you where to hit where it won’t cause damage. Used this method for years.
