What have you done to your car today?

Removed callipers and carriers from the car, machined them back to metal and painted them black. Took the opportunity to give the wheel arches and pipework a good clean but completely forgot to takes any photos. Reassembled and bled the brakes, then went for a drive :driving:

It’s the third zed that I’ve painted the callipers, but the first time I’ve done it with them off the car. I was a bit hesitant to open the brake lines to be honest, but if you block the brake pedal correctly, you lose hardly any fluid and bleeding is a doddle.

Nice one Ben such a nice easy and a very viewable win!

Don't think Ive seen anything about what you've bought since you sold the lovely E86 and the basic 2.5 rag top you revived?
Modest upgrade, Scott. Definitely missing my coupe, but I’d rather have a car to work on than a garage queen just now.

More of a “what will I do for my Zed today”

03:25 local time, and ready for a UK-roadtrip. 24h round trip to get some parts for not just one but four Zeds. This should be fun

Safe trip

Managed to get the last trim piece wrapped, looks so much cleaner than the original scratched aluminium. I’ll get it built back together next weekend after receiving the replacement handle recess from Martin.

Hopefully I’ll get some photos up of the full interior next week too.

Not today but this week ,having recently bought some new 107 wheels due to two bent rears on last set ,they came with pirelli p zero run flats all round.
Not having run flats for about 7 years I thought i would give them a go hopeing they would be better than the old bridgestone runflats.
After a couple off months or so ,they got removed this week and binned with 5mm of tread left.
Enough was enough bought 4 new none runflats and now we are no longer getting the harsher ride and terrible tramlining.never again will the run flats be fitted to my zed.
:driving:

Went for a drive with the Mrs to Teignmouth and Dawlish and had a cup of Costa when we got there. Not far but a nice little break out in the car.

[ref]True-Blue[/ref], [ref]jock156[/ref], Thanks guys!

Just got back: 23 hours and 40 minutes of travel time. Took a new X5 45e, which really couldn’t be more of a contrast to the Zed. Loaded with every single option, comfortable beyond belief and extremely capable as a long-distance cruiser. Plus, big enough to carry these…

Plus another goody: an aero front bumper. 8)

Stats: 1692km (or 1051 miles) in just under 24h’s. Great trip and really happy we pulled it off: 30 minute margines for the trains, and didn’t use a single minute more or less than those. Now for some much needed sleep

Take them all!
Horrible angular things :poke: :D

Plan is total Aero world domination, naturally
I was looking for a set for a mate, then another friend with another E86 caught on and decided to join in, which led to a mate of his going “hang on a minute…”

I’m happy I left when I did; if this game of Chinese aero whispers had gone on like that, I’d have needed a truck

Are you sure that your X5 is not a Shuanghuan SCEO with some badges?

This was yesterday but the electric mirrors on the Zed were non-responsive. Swapped the powerfold switch for a non-powerfold and after some gentle coaxing the mirrors sprung to life. Well chuffed.

Roof drains cleaned, inspected using the new borescope. Roof also needs cleaning and protection, but need to order the kit first.

Removed the big foam from the sound generator. I couldn’t believe it was still there after 19 years. I’m also amazed that it was fitted at all, the sound is much better without.
