What have you done to your car today?

[ref]Z4Mariner[/ref], hi, i think that in case of plastic/rubber parts we also should keep in mind not only mileage and year of production too. So this windscreen is 20+ years old, that's the problem. And directly on your question - i have replace it when mileage was 40k miles. Also i has change front glass rubber , on the same mileage, maybe +-.

I thought it was missing and was about to buy new but discovered piece had slipped down rubber tube,all good now. 👍
 
Finally after three weeks built up the stamina / willpower to 'get back into the boot' to continue the extraction of the rear hood pump / motor. This time I had a grip on the top plastic box which I'd managed to cut and got some mole grips onto, last time I'd managed to get my fingers around the mid part with the cloth tape and remove some but gave up further after quite a lot of left elbow bashing, lying on my front with legs akilter across the bootlid, and head screwed around with light shining down the left wheel arch.

This time ended up flat on my back after betting an led flood looking down and able to clamp on the mole grips. So lying on my back with both arms over my head and one hand over the other, finally the lid came off, what a relief. However it appears on of the hydraulic hoses has been damaged (I bought the car a month or so ago with the hood stopped working the day I went to look at it apparently, so bought it with a price reduction to repair this). So I now have the motor sitting on top. Of the wheel arch at least, but I am guessing there must still be a nylon tie still holding on somewhere. This is the second time this will have given out, the last time I have a roof removal bill and repair /replacement from 2018.

So I still need to identify what the number of the brake hose is which is broken. I am guessing but seeing this in the rela light of day it will be whole roof off now, which I now wish I'd done in the first place, which seems it needs two pairs of hands and a good lot of time. How difficult is it to replace the hydraulic lines off both the pump and at each end with the hydraulic roof mechanism to replace?

Has anyone got an in-tact set of hydraulic lines they wish to part with, and does anyone have a spare afternoon to assist with this 'little' job. I've read up how to do it but have no practical experience?!

Finally got round to removing the worn OEM subframe bushes from the Z4MR, bit of a mare until I remembered that they need to be set on fire :fuelfire:

Off to be powder coated tomorrow along with anti roll bars, its coming together bit by bit :D

Good job,I reckon every z4 needs this rusty subframe treatment,definitely a job for me in the future,but then where do you stop?
 
The another problem which could be is incorrect working of rain sensor ( doesn't work at all or without\ low sensivity). 99 % that it happen, because sensor not "glued" to glass tightly (see photo).
Resolving the problem is to change the light pad. You can find 3M pads for e38\46\53 ( they are the same with e85\86) on ebay (approx. 10-15 USD). Just clean up the glass and very slowly and carefully from one side to another apply and press tightly. No any empties or bubbles should be!

Agreed, one of the front bushes had failed although not surprising on a Z4M Roadster with 106k mileage. Completely disassembled the rear axle as part of parting out the car earlier this year. Will slowly build it up by refreshing all bushes, ball joints, bearings and restore my other Z4M over the winter.

I'm just in the middle of doing all 15 of the bushings in the rear end, the order doesn't matter so much but there are a few, at least on my 91,000mi car that really don't need doing. 33172282484, the front horizontal diff bush, 33171134872, the 2 bushes on the rear diff cover, all 3 of those are so small and compact that there is not much room for movement so they don't seem to wear.
I still have a couple bushings left to press in.

That looks excellent :happyclap: My Z4 will be going up on axle stands in the spring for a few weeks whilst I do the same :thumbsup:

I see you've gone down the OEM bushes route which I decided on too. Going for powerflex poly bushes on RTAB, sway bars and spring carriers as I've previously done on my E46 M3.
 
Swapped over to 260M wheels wrapped in brand new Michelin Pilot Sport 5 tyres with 235/40/18 front and 265/35/18 rear sizes. Really impressed with the new MPS5 rubber even though it was only a short drive and loving the reflex silver on Ruby Schwartz :D

Plan to install the H&R street performance coilovers tomorrow to get the stance just right...and will be interesting to see how the ride comfort compares to 104k OEM suspension.

I removed the Powerflex poly on the RTAB and have replaced them with BMW mono balls in solid aluminum case,

Nothing against the poly but the mono ball with solid housing lets the RTA swing only in the plane it is meant too with no deviation or twisting.
It will be interesting to feel the difference.

Great choice, those look really nice on your car. Classic, but modern.
