Kicked it and swore at it.......collected it yesterday from a Main dealer who fitted a new differential. The whining noise that it went in for is still there....B*gger.... So I have been on my back, under it, it with a stethoscope, trying to find what I can hear.

Overdue in terms of its in BMW’s schedule or that you could hear the problem getting worse?

Is recommended to change after 70k miles as many fail around then. More preventative than anything…I think I got lucky that mine lasted as long as it did.

Thanks. Came from a Dutch website so not sure if it’s any help. There’s quite a few out there, and often it involves removing the original cable from the back of the radio, plugging in the new harness and connecting the original cable back to that. Mic cable routed through the dash and up the pillar, job done

It was yesterday but finished changing water pump, thermostat, expansion tank and added a jacking point under the front subframe (very useful to lift the whole front end). It was a long and not so pleasant process but I am happy to have the car back on the road and the peace of mind that the pump will not give up randomly now

I gave my neglected Harley a run to pickup some bits from the local Mecca in the Ariège and order a few more to pick up Saturday,while I wait for parts much cleaning is taking place underneath scuttle panel and wheel arch liners for the 1st time in 18 years I presume.

I changed a side light bulb and de-greased my windscreen wiper assembly. Snapped many of the screws from the front edge of the wiper pan but at least my windscreen wipers are parking nicely now! Cleaned out 15 years of detritus from under the wiper pan too

Just back from having a full set of Goodyear Eagle F1 Asy 5's fitted, Non Run Flats. Its transformed the car, so much more pliant, and much less tramlining!

Chasing down non-functioning rear PDC, I removed the rear bumper and didn't like the state of the steelwork.
Twisted knot cup-wire brush, Kurust, and paint. This will get waxoiled before going back too.

The car's ready and waiting for a used PDC sensor off Ebay.

Looks superb that does Jay ! :wub: Such a transformation. Those wheels suit the E85 MUCH more than they do the E89 and even more so in that colour. Nice !
