What have you done to your car today?

Discovered yesterday that my E86 has been doored fairly heavily at some point after Christmas!

Underground, allocated parking for my apartment block so the culprit is obvious - dent perfectly aligned with their their rear left passenger door.

Have left a note and getting a quote today from Aurora in Wandsworth, but haven’t had any contact from the offender yet.

Annoying! Front quarter panel on the drivers side, so really obvious to look at, with one of the dents right on the top of the panel and quite sharp, so may not come out.

Changed rocker cover gasket as the oil burning off the exhaust was finally noticeable now I'm mostly driving round with the roof up. Changed spark plugs whilst I was in there, and finally picked up a Ryobi electric ratchet tool. Also fitted a dashcam (on a wonk, oops.)

That's a shame mate, sorry to hear. Its likely a kid not being careful getting out.

If you want another option you could always look at replacing the body panel if you have a common colour. Might work out cheaper.

£350 + VAT

Enough to be annoying! Will see if I get a response from the owner. Rather hesitant to repair and have them do it again.

I’ve been in the same space for seven months now and hasn’t been an issue, so hopefully just one (or two) unfortunate accidents.

Is it possible to use some metal cleaner like Brasso to bring it up a bit and make it shiny as it looks a bit dull and grey.

I’d be careful about polishing that trim, it could be a nightmare on a sunny day with reflections dazzling you.

Nothing fancy, the bike has been taking my time lately but as I was done with it I decided to do a group shower for the bike and the Zed. Just applied some soap with the foam gun on my Karcher and then a rinse

Also realised I had a leak to the boot as there was some water on the battery cover, I expect it came from the headlights. I'll just make sure it dries properly and keep an eye on it, I guess it happens only because of pressure.

Yesterday I fitted my freshly refurbed 162 alloys and new PS4 tyres. Very pleased with the way they've turned out :D 20220110_163558.jpg
Also fitted 4 new PDC sensors in the rear bumper and at the same time a remote connector direct to the battery for my Noco Genius battery conditioner. For convenience I concealed the connector inside the rear towing-eye cover.20220110_133037.jpg20220110_133228.jpg20220110_141544.jpg
This morning I took it for its MOT which it passed with no advisories :D 20220111_085552.jpg
Happy chap ! Next task....fit my supercharger

Had new Eagle F1 Assy 5’s fitted at the weekend,

finally found time to decontaminate the 405M’s this evening with Bilt Hamber Surfex HD then Korosol. Was going to ceramic coat them this evening too, but feeling a bit ropey after COVID booster earlier this afternoon… so that can wait until tomorrow. Can’t wait to get them on now :P

I do like these! Where did you get them from?

I also note you have the same issue I had with both of my headlights with water ingress, I took off the back plates, cleaned the seals which worked for one but have to order a new backing plate for the other as the seal has a Nick in it.

Hello, don’t logon much. Last thing I did was replace the coupe's shifter with a M sport one. Heavier, shorter, not shiny, perfect!
Also a shot of the dirty zed out driving today.

Finally got my ///MR back from the garage today. :D She's been sat there in my techs garage a mile and a half from my front door for over 10 weeks. As I mentioned before I think probably damaged the exhaust an age ago, when I left the hand brake off and the car reversed it's self into my neighbours wall. Any way it failed at the junction between the back boxes and the centre section. The issue was there was not a new Z4M exhaust available any where on this fine planet, according to BMW. I spotted one on e-bay weeks ago but the seller would not answer my questions. After contacting about a dozen specialist exhaust builders, I eventually found, Tyre Marks in Tavistock and took the mid section of the exhaust up to them to be repaired. They did a great job on it for £140, Compared to the £1000s a new one would have cost, if available I call that a result. While the exhaust was off the seal on the rear LSD has been replaced too, as it had a slight seep.

Anyway delighted to get her back today. Clearly un heated where she has been, as a little mildew starting up on the seat belts not to mention a number of cobwebs. So spent the afternoon giving her a proper clean. More to do tomorrow in the engine bay and I might get around to a wax too. Any way the grime of storage is all gone now.

Might even take her out for a drive on Sunday, if there's no salt about.
