What have you done to your car today?

Coolant leak due to crack in expansion tank. Expansion tank replaced (£250 by my local Indy)
Is that a common failure for E85/E86s or have I just been lucky?

Yes very common, anyone with an original expansion tank that has not cracked is not driving a proper zed.

Full suspension refresh being installed by Ross @ RBM this week, teaser photos shared today. Suplex (sport) springs; Bilstein B4 dampers; Lemforder top mounts, bushes (Lollipops, RTABs) and drop links; BMW spring pads, ARB bushes and fresh bolts/washers. Looking forward to pick tomorrow
Exactly what I have done. The B4s are excellent, enjoy.

Apparently the old stuff wasn’t completely shot, however the car is now seriously confidence inspiring - corners flatter, instantly settles after bumps, and seems less inclined to trouble the traction control hoofing it on rough surfaces. Ditchfinding tendencies also seem to have been cured which is nice. @Petahgreen - saw your car (again) at RBM with a tidy silver Z4MC on CSLs on the lift too

Ah nice- I think yours had gone by the time I picked mine up last night. Mine was in for exhaust gaskets and new brake lines. Glad you got your suspension sorted- it makes a massive difference!

MrsG's car is in the garage for some work, so she nicked my daily, meaning I am forced to drive the MR for the next few days.

The sacrifices I make for her. :D

Have been up on the moors all day then a quick wash down and away. Same planned for tomorrow.

Its a 'what have you done to your car in the last 48 hours or so'?

The eagle eyed of you will know that my for sale thread turned into a sold thread- and EGZ moved on. Happily I know Woodrow will cherish her as much as I did! I was very proud of that car and I am sure that she will get used more and treated better than I could with a space on the drive (off to Woodrow's ventilated garage!). Plus as his lad is an avid detailer I think its going to look better than ever!

Being a Z4 addict I was lining up for an E86... but I've held back on pulling the trigger just yet. The issue I had with the departed car was for me it was too close to being the unicorn: so never got driven much, got a bit too much care etc. I feel the same if I head into E86 territory PLUS I need 'stuff to do/faff around with'.

Last night I put a deposit down on my 3rd sapphire black E85 :headbang: : that will really confuse the neighbours. 05 plate 2.5i (never had the 2.5 lump so being manual I'm looking forward to the drive back from Brum). Its got M-Sport heated and electric seats which frankly are life changing, MFSW and a load of other nice bits I've not before experienced. Drove home last night with a boot full of spare parts etc too so, in summary:

Very sad to see my beloved 3.0 go, but she goes to a better place!
The addiction continues and with a bit of luck I won't have to see the missus until October with all the refreshing to do on the new one!

Off to change my signature!

I got caught out in that tropical rain of yours while trying to fix the rattling drivers side front brake backplate/dust shield: I got soaked, as did all my tools, I could only finish the job half way...

It suddenly started pouring down, so I rushed all the tools inside, put the wheel back on, lowered the car back to the ground and removed the jackstands, dried everything one by one, went back to the car to torque down the wheel nuts, got back in, cleaned up, and took the Zed for a short spin, and then the rain stopped... :headbang:

It was all fun and games up until it rained about an hour early from what the weather forecast said

Anyway, next weekend I've got the lot: brembos, bilsteins and coils all around! Hope it doesn't rain this time...

Had adjustable droplinks fitted as my previous shortened one were still too big, and knackered. Apparently the adjustables, even on their shortest settings, are still a tad too big
At least it won't clunk all the way to zedfest! :driving:

Air filter and pollen filter. Tried to fit blue music and I’m a connector missing.

Also fitted air spring to my X5 - no more saggy back end
