What have you done to your car today?

Booked in to a garage for a survey prior to any work, got a few quotes. Then:

Changed all lamps to LED
Fitted 4D plates
Gave the engine a quick clean
Fitted a Pipercross panel filter
Cleaned and greased the bonnet release and securing mechanism
Bottled forcing out the alloy BMW badges.

Photos on my thread.

New inner and outer tie rods fitted (and a new wheel alignment natch).
Was an advisory on the mot 1 week before lockdown in March, finally got it sorted.
Car feels tighter - very happy with it.

Received my towing eye in the post
Found the glove box is broken (two hinges)
and still cant get used to 1st and 2nd.

I'm about to put a new battery in the dead key and do an oil change on the GTD.

New rocker cover gasket is on.

Turned out that the misting of oil was due to previous work where some Muppet snapped a bolt but couldn't be bothered to fix their mistake!
Luckily it was an easy one to remove due to it not being in a rust prone area.

This is why I don't take my car to mechanics! I know they aren't all bad, but sometimes the lack of knowledge and mechanical sympathy amazes me.

Finalised vanos refurb with new valve cover gaskets. Now an agonizing wait for rtv to cure before taking a test drive...

Not to my car, but to the wife's, and fitted this:

to replace a 5V USB output to her dashcam. The old module failed and instead of pulling out the USB lead which had been neatly tucked up the A pillar and across the headlining, I thought I'd just fit one of these. I like it because it has a potentiometer to adjust the output. Quite happy with it and the size is a bonus!

Mot for mine today. Passed again, unsurprisingly since it's only done 1900 miles since the last one. Still find it causes a little anxiety though.

just had the bill for an INS 1 and a health check.....just over £1900!!!! And not a mention of Rod bearings....

Brake pipes
ABS block
Rear discs and pads
ABS reluctor rings
Anti roll bar link
Air con belt
Rear bushes
vanos clean / check
Brake fluid service

I did ask about CDV removal but they want to call back...

looks like the CSLs will have to wait a bit.

I need a new head light and BMW want £932.64 + Vat, does anyone know of a repair service, one of the HALO rings has snapped off.

So far I have the Cruise Control loom, (Thanks Steve), a pair of Mad Monkey back boxes, and a Gruppe M (both acquired from departed forum member JAD) sitting in my garage waiting to be fitted.

How are these working out for you, Steve? Hope all's well? JAD (couldn't recall my username - apologies for popping up with a new one!).
