Fitted an Amazon Echo Dot to the Zed this morning, tethered to the hotspot on my phone, works great
what does it do in the Z4?
The plan is to use it with Spotify to just ask Alexa to play specific tracks, read a book from Audible on a long drive etc

Hi all!

So the 10mm spacers came today, was rather excited to finally get my car sorted! So I got the front of the car up and got the wheels off only to discover that the lip on the hub was too large to fit the spacers flat against the back of the hub. I tried various methods of getting them to sit flush but to no prevail! The only way I found around this was to fit both the 5mm universal spacer against the hub and then the 10mm hubcentric spacer on top of that. Got the wheel on and then found that the new extended 40mm wheel bolts were too large and didn't hold the wheel on. So had to take them all out and grind a few mm off the end so they all fitted the holes (I did make sure I chopped off the right amount) and once they all actually held the wheels on I took it for a short drive. Seemed decent around the corners, nothing scraping on each other and decent gap between the tyre/wheel and the suspension. All in all a decent result! With the new front bumper, plates and now dampers and front suspension, it's looking much better and feels completely different to drive! Hard to tell it was ever crashed (not by me) and not too noticeable that its got 15mm spacers on it!! Thank you to everyone who helped so glad it's now functional again!

Hi, Your Zed is looking great with the new front bumper and I live the colour.

One word of warning though. I wouldn’t run your car with a combination of a 5mm and a 10mm spacers together on the same hub. The hub centric spacers are designed to sit firmly and securely against the hub. By fitting a 5mm universal spacer to the hub and then fitting the 10mm hub centric spacer on top, you are putting all the stress on the wheel bolts and it could be dangerous.

Yea I was worried that would be the case, think im going to have to order either some larger spacers or try and make the lip on the hub smaller. At least it's drivable now! Thank you for the warning though

Lockdown jobs today on the Z4, used my Meguiars pack starting with the wash gel then dried using a towel, paint cleaner then applied panel by panel, followed by polish panel by panel then finished off with Carnauba wax, quite work intensive but happy with the results paint now feels so smooth and looks glossy. Finished off giving the rubbers a coating of Gummifledge all round then turned attention to replacing the 8mm self tapping screws in the front arch liners. I was fed up with the rusty look of these and sourced some stainless steel 8mm head screws and some stainless washers to replace them. The replacement screws are self drilling screws but work quite well in the locating holes on the car. Did manage a short drive out in order to collect Meds from the Chemists, great pity it wasn't further with todays nice weather.

These are the ones I bought for my car (they do other sizes too) and I’ve been really happy with them.

They also come complete with new extended bolts and locking bolts.

[ref]matthewpri[/ref] It looks like davros has already written what I was going to say. Doesn't sound safe, so I'm glad you're looking into a safe solution

In line with everyone else a quick was & dry!
You've no doubt been asked this before, but what headlights are they?

Angel eyes! A Company called Sonar on Ebay = £330 when I bought them. They are now upto about £380. If your old headlights are in good condition you can sell them for a good price to offset the outlay. Just search for "BMW E85 Headlights" on Ebay and they are one of the first to come up. A company named 2xcite distribute them. Please note I have nothing to do with either company just trying to be helpful  CAR.jpgView attachment 2LIGHTS.jpgLIGHTS1.jpg

Great, thanks. Just read they are not suitable for cars with xenon headlights.

:(

just found these xenon versions which look similar. Sadly they look like they’re only available from the USA :(

Am I going mad or are these lights replacing Xenon lights with Halogen? I know the Xenon as standard are not very good but there is always Morimoto. I think the angel eyes on these look good but my priority would be to be able to see at night? :scratchhead:
