What have you done to your car today?

Not had much opportunity to drive the Z4 recently, life just seems to keep getting in the way. It's spent a lot of time languishing on the drive just looking shabby which has been really getting to me. So finally had chance today to lavish it with some well overdue TLC. After a bath and a quick going over with my Farecla Clay Mitt it received 1 coat of Poorboys Blackhole and 2 coats of Soft99 Fusso Coat Dark. I've also been using the Fusso on my gloss black alloys as an experiment for a while and have to say I won't be going back to any wheel seal products I've used previously as it's so good  20190711_153642.jpg20190711_153800.jpg
Hopefully going to get out and about over the weekend :driving:

Looking good. I've hardly used mine lately. Got a busy July but looking forward to getting some good runs in next month.
Look forward to seeing you on the Peak District run and Borders weekend mate

Yes looking forward to them. Cars been great since I finally sorted my electrical gremlin

Car clean tonight. After leaving sweaty forehead and finger print marks from doing the front springs this week. Also work out where the hell this 'tree sap' came from on the front of the car , that made it feel like sand paper. I found some AG tar remover and did half the bonnet and front wing and it 'eventually' came off. Didnt bother with the other side as thought I would give it a hot soapy wash down and see if it came off , as sap usually does. Well, it didnt and also the bonnet I used the tar remover is also a sealant and lsp stripper too  . More work. I then decided to clay the wings and bonnet and seems its black bits in the paint. Then it dawned on me, that some eijit had sprayed the crash bar last weekend and it is now a nice black colour. The same as the stuff in the clay
So, moving on  I then decided to try a new potion from Car-Chem. You can go on their website and buy 5 sample bottles of cleaning stuff , delivered for a tenner. So, one I bought was Hydrocoat Hybrid. I thought tonight I would try this rather than the Done and Dusted stuff and it is fantastic and the finish is so smooth. Really impressed with this stuff

Tried to book the car in to get a geo done in Southampton today, for Saturday , as emailed him 2 days ago and no reply. He said he is stacked and no chance. Then he asked me what car and I said. He immediately said ' I'll get that in, no problem' Just call Friday lunch and he can let me know the time.

Relegated it to the grass (well, what's left of it) mrs has got her mate round later and the zed fits in the spot between tree and house perfectly

Yes I'm aware my bush needs a good trim, but I like the privacy it gives me out the front, so it can stay overgrown :P

I say go for it  although that photo is a bit over exposed. Looks much better when clean and without the sun making the colour look washed out  ignore the bloated merc, that's the wife's motor and weekend shopping car

Swapped out my heated electric SE seats for heated electric M seats, now feel like I'm sitting in the seat/car rather than on the seat in the car  Also changed the rocker cover gasket which was fun, the centre parts didn't lift off with the cover and was brittle as hell  parts broke off when trying to remove them and fell into the engine area, requiring tweezers and alot of time making sure i got all the sodding bits. Got there in the end.

Nothing particularly interesting.
Had my second MOT with this car today, passed with no advisories. Not really surprising as I’ve only done 300 miles since the last MOT.

Fitted a new oil filter housing gasket as the original 14 year old one had sprang a leak, the oil filter housing itself was a doddle to work with, getting the altenator in and out was an absolute pain in the arse though. Finished with an oil change to get rid of any gunk that might have gotten in while I was working. Tomorrow is replacing the side lights, possibly CDV valve and a good clean and polish.

Today I cleaned items that often get overlooked. I cleaned the keys and treated the leather booklet with leather care.
I then removed and cleaned the exhaust tips. I didn't think of take any pictures of it beforehand, but it did look quite dirty. After a thorough cleaning and polish, it came out great!

Installed on the car again.

I took out the DISA valve and gave it a look over. It was fine. Put the DISA valve back in and went for a long test drive just in case. :D

New OEM discs/pads/sensors fitted. New xenon headlight bulbs fitted as one had gone pink. Also cleared the roof drain holes.
Found the next job to do too. Rusty exhaust clamps.

Lookng 8) Greg. Hope she sails through for you. :D

Local drive this morning to Mini TJ's driving lesson. He has been learning for 2 years now and being 16 , we have 10 more months until he is unleashed on the roads with the rest of us  . Was interesting , while watching my son driving the course set out , some chap was admiring the zed. While I sauntered back to wait for him to finish, the guy sheepishly jumped back in his car :D . He could have had a sit in it and closer look if he waited :D
Testing the new eibachs yesterday and today, they are fab. Initial testing was basically B roads , with a street surface based on Beirut. It was more comfy than the M sport springs. No clunks, rattles and decent compliance. Was getting the suspension set up yesterday , but the guy said he would rather have more time for it next Saturday, which is now booked for then.
Also cleaned the 'mud' out the door window seals, which might explain some light glass scratching :? , so hope to stop that and removed the algae in there, so no more green. Cleaned the exhaust tail pipes too with a brass wire thingy in the drill followed by metal polish.
Car is going really well and really happy with it :driving:

Finally got rid of my run flats. Loving the change. Swapped from 225 50 16s to 255 35 18s on rear and 225 40 18s on front. Cdv next week.

Your new wheels look so much better - are they E89 295s like I have? I only wondered because your car is sitting so much higher than mine - but then you might have just taken it off the jack!
