What have you done to your car today?

Had a nightmare on the weekend. Recently bought an E91 320d as a daily, and the ECU got drowned in a heavy downpour on Friday night!! So I pulled apart the top of the engine bay and removed the ECU which I've left at home to dry out. Hoping it'll be okay after a simple drying - I'll find out tonight if it's not raining!

On the plus side, I get to drive the zed as my daily until the ECU is sorted!

My mate had the exact same problem on his E90 320i. I assume it must be a common issue? Anyway, he had to get a new ECU which cost him about a grand :thumbsdown: needless to say he made sure water couldn't get into the new one :lol:

I sincerely hope it doesn't run me a grand! I've only had the thing 2 weeks!! I'm hoping a rebuild/clone will be sufficient to get me back up and running if this one is toast.
And yes it's a fairly common issue unfortunately! Do you know what it was your mate did to ensure water can't get in there in the future??

Renewed the insurance for less than it cost in either of the last 2 years!

Churchill didn't even mind my non-standard exhaust or different wheels - which was quite a surprise!

Changed my standard SE seats for a set of M3 seats I got recently - the difference is out of this world

Seat goes creak, creak creak............ creak, creak, creak......................So sussed it was the leather against the plastic switch housing rubbing. So a dose of Gliptone and its dead quiet now Luckily done before 180 mile trip today
Never got to change the gearbox oil , as time wasnt on my side , but really needs a change asap. Hopefully in the next week

What product did you use for this? I think mine is starting to do the same and I can tell it'll become infuriating!

This stuff here . The seats arent real but painted leather but it does soak in somehow , stops scuffing on the bolsters and gives a leather smell to the cabin.

Todays mission was to replace the side indicator badges as they had grown warts in the black parts and a temporary repair with black resin , looked naff for me, unless you knew it was done. So, searching for the badges at over £40 each :? decided something had to be done cheaper. I found a place on ebay selling bonnet and boot badges, with the same diameter and at £5.21 each 8) a far lot less than the others. They came in BMW packaging with the code 51 148 132 375. They arrived next day too. So, looking at them and removing from the packet, they had 2 locating lugs on the back. I dremelled them off. I marked the top dead centre of the old lights for the badge ( middle of the M) Then peeled off the old ones. There were some small lugs on the light, which I had to dremmel down. I then stuck them together with polyurethane adhesive. They didnt shine that great with the finish, so I gave them a half dozen of wet look gloss lacquer to make them look like the originals. I will leave the lacquer foe a week to harden them give them a polish. But for less than £11 , I have some nice, non- warted side badges now

Go on askmid and check hes insured using the reg no. At the very least if its insured you have a reasonable comfort factor. with the vehicle insured there's someone who holds that policy that's accountable (as other have said). Your insurance can do the rest from there and get hold of the company that issued the policy. The un-gentlemanly cowardly w@nker wont really be able to swerve it due to the photos your partner took. good quick thinking on her part!

He comes up as insured on MID and my insurance company says he is as fault, and is insured. But I don’t know if he will dispute it. Anyway hopefully will be fine. Just could do without this bollocks

I know what you mean. Rationally though I dont think he really can have any defence for this, especially with the photos so hopefully his insurance will just settle

Possible insurance fraud on the VW policy holders part as the person claimed to be driving probably wasn’t (judging by the photo of them).

Update: got the car back from Ital Coachworks (review being added to relevant forum shortly, but they were excellent. Can recommend). Admiral were a royal pain and tried every shortcut, and said they wouldn’t pay for blending of the panels for paint work. Ital Coachworks therefore colour matched (extremely well) the panel, but ALSO resprayed the bumper and panel matched the door as they didn’t want to put their name to an average job. Really happy with their service.
