What have you done to your car today?

Spent the last couple of weeks prepping the car - Roof motor moved, new front brake lines, bluetooth unit installed, new bulbs, full paint correction and spruce up in the hope that if it was looking good, it would pass its MOT today. Just picked it up, it failed for having a 'obviously misdirected nearside light'.....
Then I was told they passed it 10 minutes later after clipping the headlight bulb hold back in - it must have come loose after I changed it. :D

Slightly annoyed it gets a fail on the MOT history albeit for something so minor and then a pass almost immediately but still, very happy to hear the mechanic tell me what good condition the car is in. Now time to enjoy once some decent weather arrives!

thats so annoying  did they charge for a re test? At least it was something simple :)

No charge for retest and they reseated the bulb themselves so cant complain! Just kicking myself for not doing the bulb change properly in the first place! All good though, no advisories which was what i was hoping for but you never know on a 16 year old car.

Forgot to mention, did the cdv delete and a gearbox oil change. Cdv delete makes a welcome difference, feels like a normal manual now and the gearbox is definitely smoother now, though I have concluded 1st to 2nd is never going to be silky!

I’ve done a wheel swap between the MR and MC putting the 224’s back on the Red one from where they came and put the 19” AVA’s on the MC, the CSL’s I’m keeping in the garage for the foreseeable future, MR back under cover nice and cosy and yes I know the cover doesn’t fit, it was off of my old 911 :D

Christ Darren, you're going to make me go all funny 8) 8) 8) absolutely stunning, both of them.

Who's is the RS? I almost bought one of those before I got my Z4, but I hated the striped seats so it was a non starter. hindsight says I should've bought one, but as a daily driver it would've been ruined anyway

Thanks :D

The RS belongs to a friend of mine, it’s not turned a wheel in ages, it’s really nice though :driving:

MOT and service today, readings show it covered a grand total of 2100 miles last year.
Drove there and back on dry roads which was lucky. Got home, reversed it back into the garage ready for another spring and summer of hardly driving it. :D

I also had my MOT done on Friday too and you’ve covered c1400 miles than I had done!
That said, had the car serviced, replaced the lollipops, removed the CDV and had the car Hunter aligned and it’s a different beast.
No more fighting to correct the car at speed and a true joy to drive. The guys who aligned the car (wheels in motion, Chesham) said ‘I think you’ll enjoy your drive home’ and they were spot on.
I’m pretty sure I’ll be doing more than 700miles this year!

]Finallly took her out of the hibernation she’s been in since mid-December.
Thorough clean and black kidney grills fitted. Topped it up and went for a spin!

Yeh, thats the one.
Nice feel in the hands for imitation leather and makes the wheel slightly thicker. To be honest, didnt really have high hopes but thrilled with the quality and result!

Got a new windscreen fitted (no pics coz we all know what one looks like!)
On the advice of Forum members, I went with the standard one offered by Autoglass rather than pay extra for the OEM (costing £200 more!) but bought the BMW rubber surround which fits better.
They did a really great job. It took two hours but they were really careful and it looks great. The glass has St Grobain printed on it so it’s probably the same as BMW would have offered.

Thanks for letting me know, been thinking of getting the mewant but was not sure, I'm going to pull the trigger now I have seen how good yours has turned out.

Do you have to take the plastic covers off? How long does it take to get here from China? Would it be feasible to pad it out with some foam or is it too tight a fit?

Removed the front bumper (had a struggle as some one had added a non standard wood screw behind the plastic reflector) to find the triangle shaped part of the under tray are badly split/broken so after 2 of those item 6 in the real gem link and the fog lights have seen better days

Has anyone found fog lights E85 cheaper than around £65/75

Improved the small oil leak on the rocker cover but still a small leak from there or somewhere near the rear drivers side of the engine dripping onto the cat will try again next weekend as the gasket is only a year old and did not look compromised before buying a new one as it could be from somewhere just below the rocker cover joint need a mirror or borrow works borescope to have a look.

That sounds suspiciously like the vacuum pump gasket :o But there is a lot of instructions and helpful guys on here with a wealth of knowledge bout this problem. hope you find its something less work intensive buddy.

Cheers, tug

Drove a 400 mile round trip to Essex to collect my eBay bargain E46 M3 seats! Electric heated memory seats with adjustable bolster and lordosis and in excellent condition. I have never seen these seats for sale at the price I paid (and certainly not in such good condition), so I am insanely happy! I've found the standard seats to be so uncomfortable that I can only drive the car for an hour at a time, so this is a big deal for me.

Chucked the passenger side seat in when I got home. Bliss 8)

It took about 3 weeks to arrive. The tracking service was spot on, you can follow it every step of the way.

Not sure about the foam but the cover is suprisingly pliable and the thread is very strong so it could be possible, although how much you could get away with I'm not sure.

You dont have to take the plastic bits off but I think it makes for a neater job and I found it helpful to hold the botton of the cover in place by snapping the bottom in place before I started stitching, it meant I could be certain everything lined up.

If you get one and need any advice, just give me a shout!
