What have you done to your car today?

the rears were a barsteward apparently

The rear pipes are - I had mine done by a forum member who doesn't seem to post anymore, but it took him hours!

Took my Zed into the main dealer for her end of warranty inspection, was given a new 3 series 316d for the day, the most boring car I've ever driven, and in white looks like a chest freezer ! Whilst it was in I made an online enquiry into the cost of the Advanced Car Eye 2.0 ......... Jog on Sytner

It could have been worse - I once got a white 114d M Sport!

I looked into the Car Eye 2.0 for my X1, thinking about the overall warranty of the car etc. Got really awful customer service from Sytner Nottingham & the reviews were pretty poor for the camera anyway. In the end went for a Thinkware F800 PRO 2CH Dash Camera. Front & rear cameras fitted on my drive for under £400. Very impressed with the installation & very happy with the camera & software  .

I can't believe there aren't more zeds with different colored roofs, especially seeing as the red fabric soft top seems such a popular choice for newer cabriolet these days (mostly mercs).

I nearly ordered a red roof when I was getting a replacement based 100% on a pic of your car I saw on the boards - looks so good!

Ended up with black though because I may re-wrap the car later... and not sure what colour it would be

Out of curiosity, where did you get your soft top from? It wouldn't be OEM right?

So. Today has been a productive day. Got the CDV delete done. OMG! Gear change from first to second is sooo much better. Clutch feels lighter too.
Also had my wheel spacers fitted. 20mm rear and 15mm front. Looks much nicer. And while the wheels were off noticed the springs had 3 dabs if paint on them. Quick forum search, looks like i have sports suspension. Result! Now roof is down. Sun is out and im off for a drive. Cheers.

[ref]freeriderdave[/ref], what was it like in your particular car the change from 1st to 2nd? It does feel a bit clonky in mine. Even crunchy sometimes. I cant see how that would be improved by removing the CDV in my particular case 🤔
In what way did yours improve?

Hutch. I bought a set off ebay. £65 quid including bolts. Nice quality and a doddle to fit.

My gearchange was very clunky from 1st to second. Felt like the clutch was on its way out. All the gearchanges felt a bit odd. Thought i had the only BMW with a crap gearbox. Now the whole gearchange experience just feels....well, nicer. Nicer to drive. Nicer to be a passenger in too. For a 30min job. Well worth it

Right. I can see a new item at the top of my to-do list!
[ref]freeriderdave[/ref], how did you manage to do the job without spilling too much fluid while you split the line? Tube clamp? Mole grips? Did you empty the line before you tackled the job? Does it not leak much if left 'hanging'??

I did not empty the line first. I used a tube clamp. A very small amount of fluid comes put when you disconnect the pipe. I just took off the CDV. Reconnected the pipe and hey presto. All done.
Did not even have to re bleed the clutch.

Went to the shops on the way to work and came back to see this badboy parked (terribly) near me.

I've seen it around a few times now. Sounds incredible 8)

That's 'tactical' parking, done deliberately to prevent another car from parking in the space beside him. Because he has an expensive car he deserves two car parks, clearly
