Fitted some elipsoid style 107 to the coupe 8) i like em :)

I don't understand why this isn't done more 8) looks fantastic.

To my knowledge this is only the 3rd E86 to have elipsoids fitted , i remember seeing "tomtvr" fit a set to his phoenix yellow si coupe around 5 years ago & i was bowled over  it looked epic to me , i think they really suit but as ever with the 107s 202s they divide opinion  they are staying on :)

They do look good, you certainly landed a real bargain there Mr Wilks. I dont know if its just me but there seems to have been a lot of 107 love around the forum recently
I have tried a few sets of BMW 18" wheels on mine over the years (mv2s, 108s etc) but always come back to my trusty 107s.

Changed the wheels! Before and after pics 4 years on... (finally fully paid and owned as of Jan 2019 - hurray :bday:)...

This forum is one of the best for its moderation - the respect shown by its members, we are a true credit looking at other forums - the easily accessible information, 'How To' guides and valuable information, the tasteful jokes, mostly  Thank you and spot the difference (erm i need to de-clutter my garage but I took the photo because I know most of us hoard rubbish and you will understand hopefully  - skip on the way!) ...

Cheesos! There’s hoarding and theres that... spartan Germanic and spartan garage turned... a ‘garage’ lol

The E89 wheels look very good.

Installed a new battery. Although my solar charger was keeping the old one topped up, it just wasn’t holding that charge once disconnected. All is good now though. Clock and windows reset and we’re back in business.

Also gave the engine bay a quick clean up as well.

Taxed it and drove it,
Was bored of waiting for the first of March, it's mild and dry so why not?

Getting back in a car with a fairly big engine is always a novelty after living with my daily driver over the winter, the shove in 3rd is lovely. :driving:

Finally got her out from the winter slumber & went from these:

Fitted with brand new Goodyear Eagle F1's, a real bargain from Blackcircles. I usually use MyTyres but they didn't come close on this occasion. And just to say she started 1st time & ticked over beautifully. Really hard to put her back in the garage until March 1st given the fantastic weather at the moment  .
On a side note, if anyone wants some 225/45/17 Vreds let me know. 2 with 6mm tread, 1with 5mm & 1 with 4mm, all 2013 date. 103 daisies are probably best scrapped. I think I was sold a pup with these but you live & learn :| .

oil change and and half returned the sound generator in its previous state; with both foams out, hard accelerating was unbearable.
or I'm getting too old.

After looking at aftermarket exhausts I suddenly realised I only took the larger piece out when I first got the car 18 or so months ago. Took the second piece out today and its like I've got a new car! That said I've only had a few half hour hoons so might think differently after some commuter traffic. Seemed to make my right foot heavy today though. :D

Nice new wheels but why are the daisies best scraped? No good as a track wheel/tyre?

actually, it only bothered me after 5k+ rpm
I thought it was more noise than pleasure in my ears, so put back the one nearer to the engine.
had a quick blast afterwards and all is right with the world!! :D :D :D :D

When I had the Vreds put on them I was told the wheels didn't quite run true. There's a fair amount of balance weights on a couple of them but I've not noticed any issues whilst driving tbh. The finish looks nice from a distance but is failing for some reason, sort of crazing:

I could be interested in them if they felt okay but have cosmetic issues. However we're some distance apart, not sure how much a courier would cost but I could look into it. Not sure on forum rules.... Maybe pm me with a price if you want rid of them.

I'll put an ad in the for sale section to comply with forum rules. Paisley Freight are worth a look at £33.99 for 4 17" wheels & tyres couriered anywhere in the country.

Well today I battled removing my “old” number plates to be compliant with the spacing rule - well until after tomorrow’s retest anyway! ☺️

I only just realised that the place that repaired my front bumper must have taken my (acrylic) front number plate and have replaced it with a v much thinner aluminium backed plate - I didn’t know you could get them. The upshot is that although they fit really well with the amount of double sided tape on the back I struggled to budge it.

Do you reckon I can bend it back into shape to reuse or will I need to order another??
