What have you done to your car today?

Finally, found time to fit new 17'' style 148 wheels and Nexen Winguard Sport 2 winter tires.
Lovely, innit?
Will get better photos in daytime.

Went for a drive :driving:

Washed and waxed it.

Then covered it up with my new Classic Additions Ultimate Outdoor Cover, ready for the snow

Got rid of the damn airbag light using inpa.

Anyone in the Midlands wants a de-airbag light I'm here.

Also tried to put the roof down. No go. Time to relocate the motor.

I have one of these. They are brilliant - love the stretchy fit and the protection around the clips.

Drove it to work this morning, knowing there's supposed to be snow this afternoon... But I have an appointment at the BMW bodyshop to hopefully claim a resprayed rear arch panel which is starting to bubble up in the lower front corner...

Aaaaand it's not covered under warranty.... It's apparently had the rear arch panels sprayed before and the service history is too patchy. :(

Unlucky. My rear arches both have rust. Have done a bit of spraying in the past, so I'm debating getting them professionally done now or removing them and doing a simple sand, fill and paint job myself just to stop the rot getting any worse then getting them done properly as part of a full colour change respray in a few years time.

How much are you being quoted for the work?

Well the BMW body shop guy said it could be up to about £3k!! They buy in new panels and start from scratch. But. Not sure how it's £3k worth ...

I think I'll have an ask around my local body shops and see what they quote me.

:o Ouch! That's full respray money! How bad are the panels? Do they definitely need replacing?

New, I think the panels are £400-500 each from BMW. I suppose there's a fair few man hours in there too, but then the panels do just unbolt, it's not like there's any welding to be done. Perhaps you could do some of that unbolting work (inc removing rear bumper, etc) to save some money?

Will be interested to see how you get on with the local body shops.

The passenger side one is feeling quite rough if you run your fingers over it. Doesn't look like much until you notice it, so I guess in time it'll get pretty bad. The problem with rubbing back and respraying is the risk of not getting all the rust and it returning. New panels and they will last much, much longer. That's the cost implications really!

Aluminium and carbon stubby aerial fitted, reception as per whippy. Probably the easiest thing I’ll do to this car !!

That’s nice, do you have a link?

Thanks, bought via www.trademe.co.nz Will look later to see if I can find the link. Cheers

If you wanted one and they won’t send to you let me know and I would get one and post to you. Just need to find out postage etc or happy to swap for one of your M cars, either one haha.

Just can’t seem to find one in NZ. CHeers

ZHP gear knob fitted courtesy of Glen at Sytner Coventry, great service from him, half the price of the dealer in NZ.
