Well the BMW body shop guy said it could be up to about £3k!! They buy in new panels and start from scratch. But. I think I'll have an ask around my local body shops and see what they quote me.
The passenger side one is feeling quite rough if you run your fingers over it. Doesn't look like much until you notice it, so I guess in time it'll get pretty bad. The problem with rubbing back and respraying is the risk of not getting all the rust and it returning. New panels and they will last much, much longer.
