What have you done to your car today?

Made a custom heat shield for my ram air filter. No one seems to make them for the 2.0

Nice job. I nearly didn't scroll down past the cardboard mockup pictures as I thought it may have been a joke post. Do you lose a bit of induction noise?

I will let you know later, need to test drive it :)

Oil service on the Coupe and check around, it needs new front discs and pads, fortunately I have a pair in the garage, BF will get changed then too, thouroghly cleaned the underneath and swapped the CSL’s for the 224’s off the MR so I can clean them up properly :driving:

Quite liked the Blue Peter effort to start with
Reminds me of my mate, the 1st of our school gang to get a car. It was a MK1 Escort and he made a boom box for the rear parcel shelf out of a cardboard box
It sort of worked and forward thinking for the late 70's

Hey bud

Cheers for the video. Did you not remove the leather trim on the handbrake as he did then?

Did you follow the rest of the steps ie loosen the brake shoes completely and then tighten up until you cannot rotate the wheels with your hands?

I didn't have a clue either until I watched a great YouTube video. It was around 10 minutes long, but it explains in detail exactly how to adjust your handbrake on a BMW.

Wish I had done it sooner, as last year my Z4 rolled back into bushes on my driveway, causing great embarrassment to me

The adjuster on the passenger side is at the 2 o'clock position (or pretty close to it). The drivers side one is in the 10 o'clock position.
.

Hey buddy

Got a link to the video?

Cheers

It's not Z4 specific, but it's exactly the same set up, apart from not needing to adjust anything from inside the car.

You don't need to remove the leather gaiter because it's all done by the adjuster in the rear drums.

Yes, all the other steps are correct. It's simple enough to do, just a bit of trial and error involved until you're happy with your handbrake

Today I have been mostly fixing the wipers.

Stripped down, degreased contacts, lubricated all joints and reassembled.

Gave the engine bay a clean down as well :)

So bloody windy it was blowing the bonnet down on me!

Took the gear gator out and surround to finally clean it properly, found two pounds which must have been kicking around in the car since I bought it in the summer. Shame I can’t spend them

Aluminium and carbon stubby aerial fitted, reception as per whippy. Probably the easiest thing I’ll do to this car !!

Fixed the windscreen washers that were giving a puny dribble at best.
Filter dirty, all good now.
Rinsed off the salty road grime.
Bit of leather feed on the bolster.
