What have you done to your car today?

Another fun drive up and down to Oakhampton camp today.. Roads a little damp this morning. Coming home this afternoon though, lovely cool air feeding the engine, bone dry tarmac, bugger all traffic, perfect driving conditions for pushing on.

Well you would. :driving: :D

And of course a quick rinse and dry before tucking her up.

Oil filter housing top clean up for me today, that’s how I roll :D

How much would you charge to make the complete underside of my ride as shiney? :poke:

Looks great Darren!

I presume you have taken the same approach with the rest of the engine ali too by the look of your picture? What's your cleaning process?

Bought new M-sport badges for the alloys I am getting refurbished
Looking forward to seeing the wheels when finished
I haven't been avoiding you - car's in the shop for about another 3 weeks (hopefully no longer) so no trips to invite you on
Knowing my luck, will get everything sorted just in time for winter... :headbang:

Recovered the car to the garage, starter motor has given up.
Is it worth doing the ccv whilst the inlet is off? The next question will be, where can I get one that will be here by Wednesday?

Thankyou, I’m a cleaner :D

Just alloy polish and elbow grease, multiple times, I had to use a weak acid on the oil housing cap to start with as that was quite bad, clean then polish up

I was advised to get one from BMW as the copies don't often fit properly and need a bit of fettling

Messed Round with my handbrake yet again, as I wasn't 100% happy with it. It was taking up to 7 clicks to hold on a moderate incline, so tried my best to get it holding better.

Jacked up from the Centre jacking point, handbrake off and one wheel bolt removed from each rear wheel. Then you can turn the wheel until you can see the adjuster through the wheel bolt hole.

Then it's a bit of trial and error until it seems better/worse than before.

Now I'm down to 4 clicks and it seems to hold fine (I tried doing a wheel bolt up tight with the handbrake on, wheel doesn't move). I'll only find out for sure on my work commute tomorrow

Last year, after replacing the shoes and not adjusting it correctly. Handbrake is quite high here.

Today. 4 clicks. Much better looking

And one of the Jack, just because it's a good bit of kit

[ref]ben g[/ref], you just taught me something i had no idea about! I thought it was a matter to adjusting at the hand brake lever under the centre console! But then that'd be for any other car, not for BMW's brake shoe set-up
I must look at YouTube as a curiosity.

I didn't have a clue either until I watched a great YouTube video. It was around 10 minutes long, but it explains in detail exactly how to adjust your handbrake on a BMW.

Wish I had done it sooner, as last year my Z4 rolled back into bushes on my driveway, causing great embarrassment to me

The adjuster on the passenger side is at the 2 o'clock position (or pretty close to it). The drivers side one is in the 10 o'clock position.

I replaced my CCV system in April last year with a Febi Bilstein kit. Excellent quality and fitted perfectly  https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F153063005627

New DISA valve, spark plugs and ignition coils as I had been getting vacuum leak & misfire codes. Glad I took the DISA off as it was completely broken! Luckily the pin was only just hanging in place so a lucky escape. :D

It's not Z4 specific, but it's exactly the same set up, apart from not needing to adjust anything from inside the car.
