Those dandelion seed things are the bane of my life !! They are the only thing that I look forward to winter for.

Today I mostly gave it a wash and polished the dodgy headlamps...

If I could get and push the Z over bumps in the road, I would :).
I have not long ago had to have a pothole damaged rear axle replaced on my M Sport E90 and that is like driving on cushions compared to the Z.

I finally had enough of the hazy headlights and decided to do something about them...

I used Meguiars PlastX with a rotary polisher.... they’re not perfect - actually still look a bit pitted close up with the lights on, but a major improvement

I also gave the Meguiars Roof cleaning stuff a try.... much better than the BMW roof cleaner I used before

I recently picked up some replacement bulbs for the front too, and as I was messing with the headlights I got those fitted too

Looks sweet, are the bulbs white light? Do you have a link? Thanks !

Thanks for the comment and the question.

The ones I picked up are 4300K.

Sorry, I'm in Thailand and I got them from a department store here so I don't have a link, but I'm sure they're easy to find in other parts of the world....

Even in daylight, my first impression is that they're very different from the standard yellowish glow, but there are far brighter whites available out there. I haven't had chance to try them in the dark yet but I imagine the difference will be noticeable.

Nice bulbs! Which prompted me to Google what's legal in the UK

Does anyone know if this correct ?

https://www.powerbulbs.com/blog/2018/01/headlight-colours
United Kingdom
In the UK, the law strictly limits the colour of headlights. The bulbs must either be white or yellow. That means bulbs that produce a blue light are not approved for road use. Halogen bulbs with a colour temperature over 4200K are not road legal. This is because the blue colour of the lights can confuse other drivers, who might think the blue lights belong to an emergency services vehicle.

However, xenon HID bulbs that appear bluer are still legal within certain limits. Some xenon HIDs with colour temperatures of up to 6000K are considered road legal.

You can use blue bulbs for off-road use. Other colours, such as green or purple, may be available blut are practically guaranteed to get you pulled over.

That sounds about right. I knew HIDs were either 6000k or 6500K. Also bear in mind there’s certain legalities over using aftermarket HID kits without projectors etc too.

This page talks about the HID conversions
Are aftermarket HID headlights legal in the UK? Will they pass an MOT? What about LED headlights?
Update - January 2018

https://greyhead.co.uk/other-things/are-aftermarket-hid-lights-legal-uk
In January 2018, the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency ("DVSA") announced that some changes were being drafted to tighten up the MOT rules on the fitment of aftermarket HID kits.

These changes are still in draft, but the essence seems to be that, if you want to upgrade a car to HID headlights, you must use a headlight unit specifically designed for the fitment of the HID bulb you're upgrading to. So, for example, if you wanted to fit a D2S-type HID lamp, you would need to use a projector or reflector specifically designed for that bulb.

The specific wording, on page 7 of the draft document (which you can read here), is:

Some vehicles may be fitted with High Intensity Discharge (HID) headlamps. It is not permitted to convert existing halogen headlamp units for use with HID bulbs. If it is clear that such a conversion has been carried out, rather than replacing the entire unit with one designed and approved for use with HID bulbs, the headlamp should be rejected.
I was thinking of changing the sidelights to LED seeing as I have some spare, but I don't think I will bother now plus I'll stay with the halogens 4K, although I may attempt a Halo DRL mod at some point :)
