What have you done to your car today?

Given the roof its first clean in my ownership and even removed the white gummy glue residue patches. Also removed the wiper assembly and serviced the internals. The wipers now park correctly.

Wow 8) amazing how well that's cleaned up! Great job.

Today I went and bought some hammerite and gave my brakes a coat of silver paint. I actually paid extra to have the Mtec discs coated. Needless to say the coating didn't last long before going rusty :headbang: £16 for a pot of paint and 89p for a cheap brush and they're looking good again.

Also gave the wheels a proper clean whilst they were off the car and put some copper grease on the wheel bolts.

Cheers Ben, I'm very happy with the results!

Just a note on greasing bolts - it shouldn't really be done as you will be applying a greater tensile load to the bolts if you now tighten them to the same (manufacturer's) torque setting. If you already know this and have adjusted your torque settings accordingly then all is well, but I'd rather say something than ignore it and then read about you snapping a bolt :)

I greased the bolts because I actually snapped a wheel bolt a few years back, due to the thread seizing solid in the hub :headbang: it was so much grief to sort out that I make sure I grease up the threads now. Haven't had a problem so far, but thanks for alerting me.

I use a breaker bar for my wheel bolts, but don't hang off it, unlike many tyre fitters

For what a torque wrench costs these days it’s worth having one in the tool kit even if only used once in a blue moon.

I've got one. Never used it

Finished rebuilding the 330i calipers. Although I might invest in some brass bushings just to really finish them off. Pretty happy with the outcome :)

A good clean and polish this evening.

Masking up and tinting my clear rear lights. Just a teaser photo for now. Will post a separate thread with details once all complete and installed.

Oh and succeeded to reinstall the business CD after failing to find all the wires yesterday. They were further down inside the dash. Located with the aid of a torch and some deep rummaging.

I predominantly used Milton's sterilising tablets from Boots, as recommended by our favourite Z4 forum :D 5 litres of water in a bucket, two tablets and a nail brush. Took about 15 minutes to go over it all, then I rinsed it off and repeated the process again.

I did follow this up with some Supernatural tar remover on a few white glue deposits, but hopefully you don't have those.

Cruise control switch and cowl arrived today so chucked them in tonight. Quickest CC upgrade ever!

Also replaced a screw clip under the nearside rear light cover. Water was entering the boot because the rubber skirt on the clip had disintegrated. A bag of new clips arrived today so in went a new one with a smearing of grease underneath for extra anti-water power. I'll test it some time this week:

Just about to fit this little lot to mine..

Hoping to see a decent improvement over the factory M Sport setup that has now covered 74k.. These had done 6k before the car was written off for rear quarter damage.. Luckily the aero skirts were intact :D
