What have you done to your car today?

Had a brilliant blast through the Cotswolds and Worcestershire today, getting the Z all dirty after detailing it on Friday morning, but it put a huge smile on my face all day!

Was this the one off Ebay? Absolute bargain!

Don’t know what happened with the quote!

Sorry, I meant the strut brace. I was following one on Ebay but missed it. It only went for £30!

Just wondered if that was the one you got

I bought this one off a Forum member. It was black so I rubbed it down with a DA and then wet n dried it with various grades and finally polished up with a mini DA and 3M Polish

Cleaned and re-proofed the roof (AG) yesterday, went to wheel restorer this morning and dropped off my 108's for refurb. Powder coat and diamond cut. Gone for darker metallic grey centres fading to smokey grey on the spokes with metallic flake on the 'spokes', inspired if that is the word, by the paint finish of the old silver and black BMW R90s motorcycle from the 1970's (showing my age a bit). Diamond cut on the outer rim with the inner wheel left alloy so 'spokes' stand out. Hopefully it will be understated, I have four new BMW hub centres ready to finish it off. Back on the car by Friday hopefully.

Some Butyl sealant tape and door card clips on order, in case of any replacement needs when I get to installing the sound deadening into the doors this weekend.

Looking forward to not having them rattle constantly!

Rainsport 3's? How much did you pay including fitting?

Got my vredestein rears fitted today and he said he can do Rainsport rears for £130 each. Didn't know whether that was a good price or not?

He charged £40 to fit 2 tyres that I bought online. Ridiculous :o

New tyres fitted. The old ones were right down to the indicators. I measured 1.8mm on the inside third! It's no surprise I was having traction issues  the ride was very firm also, even with new suspension fitted.

Now it feels quite comfortable (for a Z4). Just a shame the guy stung me for the fitting cost :o

I also topped up the oil and coolant. It's drinking oil at the moment, so I really need to get the CCV changed (I have the parts, I just don't have the time) and check if it still uses a lot of oil.

Lastly, my wheelarch liner kept losing the plastic rivet fittings, so I decided to use the fitting that connect the boot carpets together. So much better! I think I'll order some and change the whole lot.

You can get 255 35 18 RS3 delivered to door at £97 so effectively charged £15 fit + balance per tyre which would seem ok , £10 is average around Lancs , £20 would seem excessive but could be another southern tax

on 8.5j rears switching to 245 40 18 gives increased comfort & wheel protection , reduces arch gap plus cheaper tyres too , just £90 each for RS3 delivered on that size

cracking idea on the wheel arch pins ben, i need to do this myself as they have worn through

Do they hold the liner tight enough though? I’ve tried various push-type fixings and none seem anywhere near as good as a cheapo plastic rivet gun kit off eBay.

Removed the miserable to “latch” because it rubbed on the headliner and fitted a new bumper cover bracket. And took the Mrs to lunch...

They seem ok so far. I had to remove a brake duct (M front bumper) to hold one half of the fixing, whilst turning the screw part, so it's a bit awkward, but I must have lost at least 10 of the bottom plastic push rivets, so it's worth a go to see if these are better.

Cool. They actually look a bit more “pro” too (not that anybody’s looking apart from us sad gits).

Do you use the brake duct metal brackets, btw? I have them but it looks like someone cut off the mounting pins on the duct a while ago (or they broke off).

The previous owner fitted the ducts, along with the bumper, and he didn't bother fitting the brackets. To be honest, I bought some to fit and couldn't work out what they mounted to, so never bothered fitting them either

They've been fine for 6 years in my ownership, so must be OK.
