What have you done to your car today?

Finally got the wheels aligned correctly today. I know a few people on here say about reducing the rear camber, but it seems to drive fine on public roads as it is, and it's within specs, so will be fine.

I was mostly just happy to get the steering straight as it kept veering to the left, even before I replaced the shock absorbers.

Still not 100% happy with the car down a bumpy B Road. It's quite twitchy, but it's always been that way. So must just be how the car handles.

I also have some strange noises that I can't narrow down to anything in particular, so will have to investigate further.

Here's the alignment test and result.

Bringing the rear camber down to around -2 made mine feel a lot more planted on bumps

Popped down to Shepshed to see mac27040 this afternoon to have a bit of coding done. A quick plug in of the module & Carly via mobile phone app & job done. Zed now locks when pulling away & indicators flash when locking & unlocking by remote. Neil did a quick diagnostic check too & no faults evident .

Great day for a roof down drive out through some lovely country lanes :driving: . Hope the weather is as good for Zedfest as it was today.

It's the front end that feels strange on mine. I haven't got my cross strut brace fitted at the moment, so that could be why?

It just feels a bit numb, almost like I'm not sure where the wheels want to go.

Unsure what to change next. The lollipops have been replaced with poly items, the shocks, drop links and top mounts have been replaced, new track rods... What am I missing? :headbang:

Had bilstein B6s fitted, new rear bushes on front wishbones and full hunger alignment. Can’t believe how much better the car feels. The B6s and standard SE springs mean you can properly bash B roads now. Really pleased.

Looking pretty again! Also sorted out the rattle I had, so all is well for the time being!

Lovely looking roadster

Have you checked out your wipers? They sit abnormally high up the windscreen. I think it's something to do with the motor.

All sorted, turns out the metal undertray had 2 loose bolts in one corner. Pulled them out, threadlocker and retorqued and all is good again :P

Hadn't noticed to be honest, but that sounds like good practice anyway so will look at doing it soon.

Had a service and changed the slightly leaking oil filter housing gasket. Blasted the roof drains with an airline to ensure they're still clear. After detailing the outside last week and finishing off with some Dodo Juice Supernatural Hybrid, the car was still looking good, just got to get around to the inside now.

You sure it's not the sticky steering column syndrome Ben, that will make the car feel twitchy.

I don't really understand the symptoms of sticky steering, but it doesn't feel like my steering has become stuck in any position whilst driving.

It just feels like the front wheels aren't biting when going into a corner, or rather the front end feels a bit like it has a mind of it's own. It can corner perfectly fine, so maybe I'm just missing the great handling our old Fiesta st180 had? That was like a go kart, whereas the Z4 feels much more slack.

I keep hearing a knock noise when pulling off a driveway both in reverse and 1st gear at very very low speed. I can't hear it when driving at town/motorway speeds. Unsure whether this is connected to the strange feeling at the front end.

Check out the threads about sticky steering, it may give you some clues about what the feeling is like. There seems to be a few who have the Knock from the front end, have you tried tightening the tie bars in the engine bay.

Another MOT here, and another without any advisories.
Less than 1500 miles covered since the last MOT, I really should use this car more often.
