What have you done to your car today?

It seems the superglue has worked, so i was able to refit the headlamp and raise the beam height. I doubt that will last forever though, so will still be on the lookout for another headlamp.

Also managed to swap over my pre-facelift heater controls to a facelift set today. I done this a few months ago and somehow broke a small part on the circuit board inside. Today, i was much more careful and now the facelift controls work perfectly

Gradually working my way down the list of problems

I've left the boot like this for now. Kept getting a small puddle forming whenever it rained heavily in that small crevice at the bottom right. Carpets dry now, so will see what happens in future.

I had to rip part of that foam off as it was soaking wet.

I'm sure I've heard of people using chalk dust , an you can see where the water runs from

Seems that my roof has decided to fold the wrong way after less than anticipated use over the winter (thanks to all the rain).

Seems the only advice is leave it down overnight to 'train' the fabric the right way to fold again, but this isn't easy without a garage! :headbang:

Had a good blast around this morning playing with the PS4S’s and then Gave it a little clean :driving:

FINALLY got around to making a new key for her, been putting up with a broken one for ages, and everytime I've got some, they go.

I had to rip part of that foam off as it was soaking wet.

When I had that, it was the seal on the rear lights - the foam hadn't seated properly, just needed fixing, but as "belt & braces" I also used a bead of butyl seal around the holes & never saw the issue again.

Last year while checking around pre m.o.t,I could detect a minimal amount of play in my o.s.bottom ball joint, and put her in for test expecting it to be an advisory at worst, then change out the wishbones as a matching pair later in summer..The tester did not even note it as an advisory, but I knew it was there and planned ahead, bearing in mind there were no shimmies,or noises or any further deterioration all year.
With this years pre m.o.t.check and servicing I took the plunge and replaced both wishbones.Inspection of the old components revealed the slight movement in the offending joint, and only loose pins but without play in the other three. Some might say a waste of money, but here is the thing. The car has now taken another step forward in terms of discernable driving reward, running tighter and more quietly than before. These cars are, indeed a work in progress, and never cease to please :D :D :D

Check the little straps haven't frayed/come away.

Wrapped the faded and flaking silver door pulls as I had some wrap lying around. Wasn't sure on the carbon fibre look but the colour is a nice contrast against the red rather than a bright silver.

Tempting me to swap my dash for something darker now mind!

Straps all seem fine, it's doing what's shown in this service bulletin
https://www.newtis.info/tisv2/a/en/e85-z4-3.0i-roa/repair-manuals/54-slide-tilt-sunroof-soft-top/3OnQhYr

The driver side wants to fold inward under the roof, meaning it stops just shy of locking position. If you manually pull it out as the roof is lowering it locks in fine, so seems it's just a matter of "training" the fabric on the correct folding direction.

Check the foam that goes around the rear wheel arch. If it's wet higher up than the puddle was I'd be checking the roof drain etc on that side.

That was my original thought, but it only seems to do it with the hardtop fitted. I haven't noticed it being wet when the soft top is up, so not sure what's going on.

The foam is bone dry further up. It was only wet at the bottom.

Didn't realise your using a hardtop. Not sure how much the roof drains come into play as I don't have one.
If the foams only wet wet low down I would be thinking the black vent in the corner under the bumper or the previously mention light issue

Took her for mot.......
Passed,no advisories, tester said a really lovely car and bet it's nice to drive too.? What could I say?
Went for celebratory blat  Next a bruichladdich :D

That Micra's number plate is worth 10x the car
Ha! It's actually a college car. "Edinburgh College 1". They not registered to go on the road :)

I do a mechanics evening class there, which is basically a car club where you have access to various ramps and every tool under the sun!
