I used Meyle HD stuff for years too and its on the front of my zed and it's been fine. Luckily I spotted the posts regarding the issues with their rear top mounts on here and other forums so went lemforder instead. Have to say I was surprised there were issues with the Meyle stuff too, normally you can swear by them. The irony here seems to be that the oem ones are lemforder anyway but the oem have a bad rap yet virtually everyone seem to say theyre old ones were fine.

Far as I'm aware my oem ones had managed 100k without issues, I just changed them as the strut was being changed anyway, seemed sensible and as you say, no issues with any Meyle parts previously.

Of course, if I'm wrong and this isn't the cause then I'm going to give up on the damn thing! :headbang:

i have to admit I dropped a bollock this weekend, fitted new Meyle ones , and forgot to refit the disc that sits underneath the top mount, reassembled went for a drive and both shocks shot through the floor into the boot  lesson learned an all that

Oops!

Well, at least your boot will have some more ventilation now :poke:

Car design moves on and so it's not really unexpected that it doesn't work in exactly the same way.

This is the e85/e86 discussion area so the only confused people are the e89 owners. The discussion we were having we each knew what we were replying to.
I obviously didn't

Finally got round to doing this, and it took considerably longer than planned!

good work on the exhaust, but whats going on with the rear end? It looks like matte finish? Did you paint the rear bumper with a brush?

Rear bumper needs respraying, that's a job for some nicer weather. The lacquer reacted in the cold after I painted the rear diffuser black and tried to touch up some of the bumper. It's actually in a rubbed down state at the moment.

Did it bolt on easy enough Jay? What's the sound like?

Mike

Yep bolted on fine Mike thanks, though I needed a bit of help from my dad with this one as it's not my forte. The biggest issue was getting round the carbon canister, there's wasn't a lot of room back there. There was something that looked like some sort of siren that needed moving too. Managed it in the end it just took a bit of trial and error.

It sounds great though! We weren't done until late last night so it's still at the unit at the moment needing to finish building the last bits back up, I'm just waiting on a lift down there now to finish it off then I'll get some daylight pics. I'm made up with it though it looks awesome, it's taken a while to get round to it but I really appreciate getting hold of it off you thanks! :D

So that's the difference between Meyle HD and Lemforder. Its also the difference between knocking and silent rear suspension. Thank god that's done!

Also replaced this... Not sure what one it's meant to be but clearly not from a Zed, as it was wider than the base.

Edit: also did my differential oil while the car was up, simple enough of a job, the oil looked well used though!

Was the meyle the one that was knocking

Yeah, and you can see where the rubber has worn away from the metal sleeve already. Wouldn't recommend them at all, which is a shame as their other products I've used seem spot on.

Fitted butyl roof flashing to the insides of the doors,
Been meaning to do this for 7 years and wish I had done it years ago.
The door is now solid and sounds like a premium car should.
Easy to fit took about an hour per door cutting and fitting neatly.

£17 mod money well spent.

Oil and filter change....when finished as I was parking the car, front right spring went boing and parted company with itself. New springs, shocks and mounts now ordered. Time to get on you tube and learn how to install them

Gave the coupe a right going over inside , carpets shampooed , alu dash trim cleaned & polished , plastics+rubbers cleaned & sealed then seats given the "swarfega" treatment before a conditioner applied :) 120k :? no sign here

Wow mr wilks, that looks lovely  .
'Swafega' treatment? What's that all about? I know this stuff from years ago but it's not used these days at work, considered far to harsh on the fair skinned youngsters :poke: . So, where/how have you used it?

I use it mixed with leather cleaner to remove the sheen / dirt on leather seats . Applied gently with a worn kitchen fleece . Then dried with towel cloth & apply conditioner until tacky then again dry off with soft cloth

Could this age old technique be used to give the leather on the steering wheel back it’s appealing matt finish?

I might use this trick.
What kind of leather cleaner did you use.
Thanks for the tip.
