What have you done to your car today?

Gave my seats the 'Wonder Wheels - Leather Clean and Feed' treatment:
Very nice Colin, I see your seats originated from an M car :P
Rob

Well spotted Rob, yes bought them from dannyg_m3 straight out of his Z4M as he was swapping in racing seats :)
Whats with your alloys - I thought they were already on the car?

I had 3 wheels on my car! The welder hospitalised himself & left my rear wheel locked in his unit while the ambulance whisked him off :o
I had a moan when the guys told me my car was stuck for the weekend and they sourced me another 19" wheel (totally different type with different sized tyre....)
I noticed the rear wheel they had given back was rubbish, so today they redid the rubbish wheel & refurbed the wheel trapped in the welders lair
All good at last & pics to follow :P

Today I returned to the bmw dealership for the wheel runout test, my cracked alloy sailed through with less than 0.5mm distortion
I later received an email saying a goodwill replacement had been turned down as my car was 3months out of warranty
I won't lose any sleep over it as I've got a repair and refurb appointment later on this week.
Rob

I've only just read this and have to say that BMW seem to be taking the 'P' they have traditionally blamed the cracks on impact which has resulted in runout - you say your runout was 0,5mm yet they denied your claim on a time related warranty.

Bandits !

It was less than 0.5mm & 3 months out of warranty! Nothing you can say as they're within their rights :(
The repair was £60 (2 cracks) so not so bad & an excuse for a wheel refurb as well

Waiting for my wheels to cool down, they appear to have done a decent job this time :?

That color looks very similar to mine. I had a local powder coat company do my OEM wheels in "mystic lava" which is one strange name considering lava is normally thought of as red. I had him do the tips too. Car was filthy when I took a pic of the tips a few weeks ago.

New member here but been adding lots of stuff to the car and this past week was no exception:

Yesterday I removed the BMW link SOS buttons and installed the oddments tray, added a first aid kit and bracket under both seats to store random junk and replaced a screw cover on the air vent that I mangled when removing the vent to fix the squeaky cup holder.

Since July when I bought it and after 12,000 miles of ownership:

  • Powder Coat wheels and exhaust tips
    Replaced very scratched windshield
    new cabin air filter
several oil changes (every 5,000 miles)
new radiator / aux fan (old one started to grind)
Mechatronics seal replaced on the transmission
front and rear brake pads replaced
    clear Head light covers
chased down several squeaks and fixed them
Bought several sets of new take off tires from craigslist to include a new set of Michelin Pilot A/S for the rear for less than $100!

Cleaned the filth out of cabin, trunk, engine bay, fresh air intake. Previous owner was a wealthy family and this car was driven by the teenage daughter who did not know how to take care of the car. In turn, really hammered them on the price and got a great deal on it.

Oh, almost forgot. New front end as of September due to some idiot dropping a 4 foot by 8 foot (uh..1.5 meter x 2.5 meter?) sheet of plywood on the interstate in Atlanta. Traffic was heavy and I could not avoid it. Did $3000 in damage and had the local BMW shop do the work. They did a great job and looks like new! I guess it worked out but I was fairly pissed off.

Nasty
I fine with feet and inches - you have to be European to go metric

Yeah, I was not happy at all with the damage. But, the BMW shop did a fine job with the repair and nothing is off. It worked out as the prior owner had pulled over a few curbs and I was going to have the front bumper cover replaced anyway. Insurance took care of most of it and it was only $250 out of pocket for $3000 in repair.

Received my driving gloves yesterday. Unfortunately, I have small hands/fingers and so the gloves are too big. Pathetic, considering the gloves are sized small :headbang:

Well today I've ordered new front control arms drop links and rear bushes all meyle HD , front arb poly bushes , rear suplex coil springs so I guess I will be pretty busy when they all arrive .
 .

The 'clotted' cream must have clotted my brain!

1. A stretch of road between Holmes Chapel to Alderley Edge
2. B3515 from Cheddar to Ashwick

Who came up with those :? Not done no2 but no1 many times & you would have to be there around 4am on a summers morning to really enjoy it , just far too busy to let loose

Pitlochry to Braemar through the Cairngorm,s probably my favourite 40 UK miles but its 300 miles away so i make do with the Ribble valley or Bowland fells much closer to home :driving:

What about Bewts-Y-Coed? Andy? thats got to be up on the list :)

Well i'm not saying i didn't enjoy Snowdonia J but as i headed from Llanberis to Betwys Y Coed on a Sunday Am in October the sheer volume of traffic took the shine off the road itself although i still enjoyed the scenery .
Also far too many cameras & traffic police in the whole North Wales area for me to really enjoy letting go but even following the speed limits it was good enough to make me return at some point this year
If you get down there in the Z a far more enjoyable & scenic road was the B4391 Llanarmon to Bala :driving: we were on there 9am/10am Sat morning (Oct) for around 45 mins & only saw a handful of cars

1.22 x 2.44 = 4 x 8, we get through tons of it, formwork

Started replacing my Z4MC ATE front discs, fitted the near side disc only to find that I had been sent 2 for the same side !! :headbang: As I'll have to wait for the replacement to arrive I have painted the calipers and ordered a seal kit for them, there didn't seem to be anything wrong with the old ones but at least I will have peace of mind. After a giving it a lot of thought I decided to redo the calipers in Black as per original. I've been impressed with the lack of corrosion on the running gear, either the car has been well looked after or the build quality has been very good. I previously had a 2006 Elise and the running gear was really showing it's age.

Booked in MOT for Monday, suppose I better wash it first. Got some lift space same day to fit my FK coils, hope it looks the part when fitted. :?
