What have you done to your car today?

Parked it outside my dad's place, dirty.

As I was getting in the car to leave a movement caught my eye and I looked across the road... a girl about 16/18 with a beast of a dog trotting along behind her.

"Nice looking car" she says.

"Thank you" I reply, somewhat surprised.

That happened to me as well, got pulled over by a couple of rozzers a couple of years back at 4.30am to tell me my MOT had ran out at midnight

While i was talking to one of them the other was walking round the zed doing visual checks, when done he walked back to us and said pointing back with his thumb "Nice motor" the other rozzer stretched his neck to see over my shoulder and said "yeah, tiz innit"

Kinda makes you feel proud.

Busy day - first down to Silverstone for a Sunday service meet (good to see a few Z’s there) then back up the M6. Car cleaned, jacked up for some winter maintenance, trickle charger on and car now SORN till next Spring.
I spotted your MCoupe at Silverstone last weekend, it looked stunning.

Finished one half of my aero this week. Hoping to knock out the front over the weekend so I can actually test it out next week at the track.

Hoping to finish off the build by Thanksgiving…

you have certainly put in a lot of work there.

Personally i am not a fan of the wheels or spoiler but i am old and prefer the stock look. But i can appreciate the work.

Certainly not for everyone but it’s all about shaving lap times. Luckily I sourced a 2nd trunk so I can go back to stock. Same story for wheels… 18x9.5 tipping scales at 18lbs is hard to beat.

But this is how she looks in street ‘trim’ during the off season (Style 641), though I don’t see myself going through the effort of removing the wing while it’s in storage.

now that is my idea of beauty.

Totally understand the need to shave off kilos for the track and its great you have the opportunity to go back to that look.

Two steps forward, one step back this weekend just gone :headbang:

2.5i had the front bumper and passenger headlight repaired, after a van reversed into it a few weeks ago. Epoxy and zip ties got the remains of the kidney grille support brackets back into usable fashion, epoxied the broken tab on passenger headlight back into place and fitted the new grilles. Also took the opportunity to fit HID upgrade whilst the headlights were off (they were woefully dim with LED bulbs in.) Also swapped the sports seats for the original leather seats and cleaned old oil off the side of the block from a recent leak so I can check if it's still leaking or not. The driver's heated seat now refuses to operate (suspect wiring) and the airbag light is on but I can't find my code reader to clear it. Back to friend to use for daily commute for now.

3.0si had new starter motor fitted. Drove it two miles down the road to find the water pump is now only functioning intermittently, so that needs replacing. I'd been expecting it to fail (130k mileage with no receipt to show it's been replaced before), but so soon after the starter packed up? Ugh. Driver's cupholder is also now refusing to pop out of the dash.

Downside of having two Z4s in active use, problems surface more often!

I know that feeling! But when you fix it and then drive it it’s absolute bliss!

When you get a chance let’s see the new headlight upgrade with the new lights turned on! What color temp did you go for?

If it’s got tits or tyres it will cost you money!

With track season over I swapped over to street pads and wheels. I noticed a lot of the plastic trims behind the front bumper cover have taken a beating over the years. So going to replace those next week before I come up with a permanent (i.e. chassis mount) solution to install the front splitter.

Got 2 new wheels (rear) for the coupe, let’s see if and when the fronts appear. Might take a while as they come from abroad.

Wife and I went to Teignmouth this afternoon for our drive and coffee break, a guy walked past with a German Shepherd, he said "what a nice car, always liked them". I said "what a nice dog, always liked them". Then we had a long chat about German cars and German dogs :D

love this, a great story… we have a Welsh dog with a German name, who enjoys riding in his German cars.
