What have you done to your car today?

Finally got my butt into gear after not driving the Z4 for almost a year
New battery fitted
New spark plugs
Air filter
Oil filter and oil change
Walked up to the garage and booked MOT for next Friday morning

Almost a whole year?
Glad you're getting back on the road! :driving: Just in time too... we still have a few shreds of summer left!

Got myself a 350z last year so the Z4 has been off the road for a while, looking forward to getting into the drivers seat again

I looked at my zed as I hobbled back into smartbear towers, it's a bit dirty but can't really attend to it at the moment.

I suspect I have air in the coolant. Very intermittent coolant warning light when the engine is up to temperature yet the reservoir is up to max when cold. Don't believe it could be the thermostat as the cabin heating works fine, and can't see a failing water pump only giving an intermittent light, with no other signs of problems.

Figure trying to bleed it will be the simplest starting point anyhow, I had one hose out when I did the VANOS but that was months ago, curious how it's only started this recently.

Figure if it's not air, it might be a sensor going faulty?

Winter prep here with 476s. Took the car out for a quick run and a tractor pulled out in front of me literally 5 mins after setting off, now covered in mud splatter :headbang:

No worries..

Glad you were happy with the Hard Top and it does look sweeeeet, fitted..

Happy :driving:

Well to answer my earlier query regarding coolant, quite a bit of air came out on the first round of bleeding I did this morning. Ran it and letting the coolant temperature drop now before having another look later.

Almost makes me wish I had the electric pump of the N52.... almost

Edit: Also think the CCV may be blocked and in need of replacing at some point. Seems to be burning around 1 litre every 2k miles right now, and there's no leaks or mixing with coolant. No blue smoke from the exhaust either so it must be small amounts getting blown into the engine.

Might leave it until I'm off around Christmas to be fair, two weeks sat round with the Mrs at work seems the ideal time, assuming it's bearable to be outside!

Not the zed but had to resort to this after my dog pressed the central locking button with her paw and id left the keys in the ignition

oh bugger

Fitted silent coat to the inside of my doors and the back of the door cards what a difference it makes, I have some left over so looking at what else I can cover. also had a go with the Carly adapter I bought last week cleared 20 old stored codes :o now only have 1 left that is a current fault with the O2 sensor which I'm putting off for now until I have the time and the patenice to attempt it as I suspect there will be a lot of swearing and knuckle damage as it doesn't look very easy to do.
Matt.

Quick clean today- Bilt Hamber wheel clean, Dodo Juice "Born to be Mild" shampoo (2 buckets) AutoFiness wash mitt and then microfiber towel dryed. Wonder wheels Wheel sealant.

Will "quick detail" tomorrow with Bouncers "Done and Dusted" to finish off.

The Coupe had another check/4 wheel alignment last week ( set for fast road use and not BMW rubbish settings) with the chap at FCM motorsport, so car running well at the moment!

I reinstalled my Pioneer 8700 DAB head unit with a black flush fitting fascia kit, replacing the awful anthracite protruding one I used initially. Had to cut out some plastic behind the dash to fit it in though: also I fitted a new combined aux/USB socket to the panel under the dash.

Then I replaced the (probably original) spark plugs after 8.5 years and 72500 miles, that looked like the electrodes had seen better days!
