What have you done to your car today?

Fitted 5mm foam insulation on top off already fitted Silentcoat to boot area and some Rockwool as suggested by [ref]Spriteracer[/ref], into voids . The insulation is very light and easy to use and I bought it after reading [ref]Meds[/ref], post where he uses 6mm . Wont know how much difference it has made until spring as car is currently Sorn .

Looks good. Which rockwool did you use - the specific sound insulation slab or one of the thermal versions ? I don't think it will make much difference in this case though. I haven't got around to it myself yet - too many other things got in the way, so I will be very interested to hear your experience when you get it back on the road.

I used RWA45 which is sold as an acoustic mineral wool but is also an all rounder . I used this mainly because I already had some :) I have also done behind the cubby holes today where some cars have the extra speakers . The only thing I am concerned about now is when I did the boot I probably blocked the vents that go from behind the seats to the boot . Not sure if that will lead to any problems ??

Some photos of the cubby holes done today .

Had the infamous slow drip out of the valve cover, $50 for the gasket and a couple hours, had the new one in. And WOW the old gasket was cooked. I'm sure this isn't unique to BMW, and 20 years is a long time, but I've never seen rubber shatter like a Lays potato chip.
If you haven't taken care of yours, I'd probably recommend adding it to your to-do list  the job is only going to get worse the harder that rubber gets

Had it done 3 months ago, same experience as you :D had a leak and oil consumption on a 100k km car. I didn't drive much after this replacement, but I believe I got rid of oil consumption.
I do recommend replacement if you spot a leak or smell of burnt oil.

Thanks. I wouldn't have thought there would be an issue as the front and back are open to each other anyway. I suppose the only vents that may be affected would be any that go to the outside. I haven't pulled mine apart as much as you yet so not sure what there may be. Good point on the cubby holes.

Its a very common issue.
I always use cloths to cover all the oilways before I try to pick it off. Reminds me of Bakelite.

Having stood over you whilst you replaced mine, I can wholeheartedly confirm that Bakelite is a spot on comparison :P

Track, Laguna Seca

Would love a go at the corkscrew :D

It's extraordinary. The turn itself is very easy, but you have to position the car before the turn and just hope you go down correctly. I went down wrong twice and hit the sausage kerb on the inside. The left side of my front bumper popped off after the 2nd hit

Changed the binnacles from all grey to all black.
