What have you done to your car today?

Can I ask what the humidifier bags do?

My car has just spent the winter in hibernation so interested on the benefits of these.

As the sun was shining when I got back from the shop I got the Z4C out. Started 1st time so really looking forward to getting it MOT'd and taxed.

Removes any moisture within the car over the winter months a 79p investment from Poundstretcher I have used them for years on my Ford RS cars although they would fill 2 humidifier bags

MoT day at Bartlett Automotive (Huntingdon)… the Zed’s first trip out of the garage (well, off the driveway) since November. Wish her God speed and fair fortune

Update: passed! Never in doubt

It’s a busy month for my coupe! A couple of days ago I finished installing oil filter housing gasket, oil cooler gasket, aluminium coolant flange, tensioner, serpentine belt…

Today was a trip to a local BMW indy to fit the new Pierburg water pump and Mahle thermostat. Originally bought for some ‘preventative maintenance’… but had a feeling recently that it wasn’t behaving 100%, and got a couple of codes on the creator 501 scanner (2E83 and 2E85):

A quick search seemed to indicate the codes were a sign it’s on the way out - so not quite a preventative bit of maintenance!

Was thinking about giving this a go myself, but wanted it sorted quickly and haven’t yet got a jack/axle stands etc… so off I went to Mill Lane Automotive in Bristol.

Pleasantly surprised to see another coupe in today too! Very nice and tidy looking in black with lovely red seats. Only the second time I’ve seen another coupe in the flesh after buying mine in November!

Put mine up for sale yesterday and have 2 peeps lined up so far at the weekend................. Just never had time to use it and the reality of grand parent hood due in 6 weeks , means I either need to get the wife to walk behind while I test the isofix in the passenger seat............... Will have an empty toy garage for the first time in 32 years.

Had a Remus fitted this morning. Oh the joy!! It’s given the 23i a more grown up soundtrack. Can’t praise POTN.com (Fin) and Motech (Mike) highly enough. Thankfully the supplier and fitter were very close to each other, or I may have had transportation trouble (see the box)

You have to post on you tube or use a hosting site like dropbox / Vimeo etc and then share a link here . Saying that it hardly ever sounds like it does in real life  Good choice on the Remus

After a lengthy process of the odd weekend and evening tinkering, the engine is finally back in, and today turned the key... success! Final bits and bobs are still to sort before MOT next month.

Picked up coupe last night, been away for a couple of weeks having so preventative maintenance, including, full service, all oils and filters replaced,, complete new cooling system including hoses, water pump, expansion tank, thermostat and housing.....then coil packs and plugs, both vanos solenoids and finally a custom back box..........just in ti e for the bank holiday. She might be 15 years old but it's one of few cars that can't help but turns my head, as l said to my mechanic........"such a handsome looking car", .........which isn't what I can say about the ugly four wheeled objects l see moving around on the roads today.

Replaced the rocker cover on my E86 yesterday. Went for the Elring replacement part which came with everything needed for a straight swap.
Easy enough job for pretty much anyone I would say. Start to finish took me about 2.5 hours.
I had been quite happy with the mechanic who I’ve had work on it previously, but when I came to unbolt the existing cover the tightness of the bolts were all over the place. Some were super tight and others felt about right.
He had only replaced the gasket about 5 months ago.
