What have you done to your car today?

Fitted a set of freshly diamond cut style 67 M3 wheels

After your recent 2.5Si debacle it's good to see you are still in a Z4.

And still experimenting with non-OE wheels.

Had a great day out with other forum members on a drive to Princetown across the moors. Luckily the weather stayed good so lots of roof down driving.

Dropped my wheels off for refurbishment. 108s. Ive decided on gold. Its a Ti Silver coupe. Its a risk. Lets see how they come out. Pictures next weekend.

Just the centres gold or the whole wheel?

Off with the old, on with the (a bit) new(er). Car is a 2003 roadster (2.5i).
The three fixings at the front attach the large plastic front undertray. Do the three fixings at the back attach to anything on this model? There is nothing on mine, but then I bought it with lots of bits missing.

Yes, the three fixings attach Transmission Air Duct 7174532s-l400 (1).jpgs-l1600.jpgs-l400.jpg
I've never seen one, don't think anyone has. I fabricated my own recently, a little larger and more sturdy to smooth the airflow under the car and keep the elements from getting at my SMG gearbox gubbins  20220219_171618.jpg

Thanks [ref]patriot66[/ref]. There is one on my coupe but not on the roadster. RealOEM suggests it is a N52-only fitment (i.e. post-LCI), so it’s weird that the reinforcement plate had the fixings right from the start.

Not on the Z, but started the revival of the new daily. What once was Sapphire black has turned into a grey, dull mess. First testspot just to get an eye in for the correction I’m looking for. The final result?

Heavy cut compound and wool pad on the rotary, followed by a microfiber cut (again with a heavy compound), followed by a light cut pad with a medium-fine compound, finished with a polishing pad and light/primer compound. Bonnet all set for coating. As for the rest of the car… spending every night this week on this project. Should come up a treat

After what seems like months up on sticks on the drive, due to holidays, work, family stuff, oh and the small matter of a sheared knuckle bolt, I finally put the Project Freeleeta in for an MOT this morning.
PASSED! One advisory for a tiny little piece of rubber (about 10mm x 2mm) sliced and lifted on the very edge of the NSF tyre probably due to a bit of kerbing. Tester must have been getting desperate!
Happy days.
Now then, to crack on with the roof motor move, vanos overhaul, straighten the front bumper, and all the other little bits.
Needs the tracking done too, but I hadn't bothered yet in case the test highlighted any other suspension issues.
This car has fought back at every opportunity so far, so I'm chuffed to get it through the test so painlessly. :D

Well yes and no Brian.
There's another one incoming on Saturday and now I'll be getting grief to move this one on when really I fancy using it for a month or three.

Hate to say this mate, but there's only one person looking at your car, and he's waving it goodbye

Yeah it wasnt really up there with the majority of prom cars unfortunately, lol.

Well the fresh MOT prompted me to crack on with Project Freeleeta. Today was designated bleed into the boot carpet day: better known as roof motor relocation.
After discovering this car was still on it's original suspension I wasn't looking forward to dealing with the stinking mess I expected to find, so imagine my surprise when this appeared!

Looks like it's been back to BMW at some point for a replacement.

Or then it hasn’t been submerged - been garaged and/or had drains maintenanced. Nice surprise anyhow. Time for lottery?

Picked up these badboys from the paintshop after a fair few weeks of waiting. Damn were they worth it though! Love how they add to the stance and profile of the car. Because they’re so shiny, only now did I notice just how badly my car needs a wash- again
