What have you done to your car today?

That looks good Chris, what is the colour? How close is it to the standard BMW alloy wheel colour, which I think is “reflex silver”?
I think it's just called 'Aluminium metallic' and it's not far off the original colour if not a shade darker perhaps.
They also do a 'Metallizer' and 'Glossifier' component but I thought they looked a bit too blingy from the vids I've seen and if you ever needed to touch up I'm guessing it would be tricky to get a good match to the previous finish.

One thing I wish Ida done different is spend more time smoothing out the chipped laquer, but then the old git side of me was telling me 'you'll never get that time back...you old git!'

Plastidipped my shabby 108's.

Thought about doing a full refurb but the cost, hassle of splitting and risk of them going quickly bad again anyway put me off.
Decided to have a crack at the Plastidip aluminium finish paint after watching a few youface vids. My winters are dipped black and I've been impressed with the durability so at 12 European Euros a can it wasn't going to break the bank to try it.
To say I'm impressed is an understatement. From a distance they look like they've had a full refurb and paint/laquer and the paint catches the sun like normal spraypaint.
Close-up and you can notice where I didn't flatten down the chipped laquer enough, but I can live with that. Compared to how they looked it's a complete transformation.

Bought 4 cans but managed to use just 2 with each wheel getting about 6 coats. Cheap as chips!
I'll use another can to try and conceal the laquer ridges a bit.

Funnily enough, was just thinking the same for the 108s and the MV1s I have in the garage.

Absolutely none on Amazon before you look

I’ve never used Plastidip, but I have done some very satisfactory home wheel refurb work using primer/base coat/lacquer out of rattle cans. Whichever way you do it, preparation is the key. Spraying paint on blemishes tends to amplify them.

Replaced the cigarette lighter with a dual USB charger. Easy enough to do, remove centre trim panel, undo wiring then remove lighter and wiring. The existing hole needed enlarging slightly by means of a sharp craft knife, then the dual charger fitted in. Connect the black and red wires up (had to cut the existing round metal connectors that came fitted to the USB charger wiring then fit and crimp slim bullet connectors in order for it to then fit into the car wiring loom connector).

The cigarette lighter as we know is permanently 'live' and powered all the time so anything you leave plugged into it could potentially drain your battery to a degree. This particular USB adapter has a small on/off switch which allows you to keep items connected but then switch on and off at your will - it illuminates in blue LED to show its powered. Perfect.........works a treat.

Fitted the GROM via the CD changer cables. NO MORE RADIO. This is going to improve my enjoyment of the E86 by about 33 times

The now remedied situation reminds me of another car I had aquired in the past. Its stereo was cassette n had Fleetwood Mac's Rumours album physically stuck inside it so for the first few weeks of ownership that is all I could listen to. Honestly, Id have prefered that to the last few weeks of skipping away from mindless chat every 30 seconds.

Going to go for drive right now with some classic drivers tunage.

Yes I know what you mean, I gave up listening to the radio back in the days of Noel Edmonds 'welly boot competition' and Terry Wogan. :headbang: Best thing I ever did was to buy a cassette player.

Fitted OEM front discs, pads and caliper bolts. Originals looked fairly new but were warped :x
Also fitted my new wheel centre badges while wheels were off.

New wheel badges look great, smarten the look up so much for such a small change!

I was going to clean the car but resisted as rain was due... glad i did as it looks like it was full of sand!! So instead spent the afternoon eradicating rattles from the plastic trim around the centre glove box, behind seat trim and also around the cup holders. Although seems there's still one left to find!

Thursday evening and Friday morning I gave my Zed a good cleanup ahead of the Bicester scramble on Fathers Day. 24hrs later and it’s soaked in rain and Saharan sand. Deep joy 🥹

[ref]Neens76[/ref], I wasn't going mad then!! Your car looks stunningly shiny though, glad you got a pic of it before the rain molested it!! :headbang:

Thanks. Yeah, buffs up nice, and I’ve yet to have paint correction etc., carried out.

And no, sand filled rain. Result 🤦🏻‍♂️

Bloody Sahara rain storm the other day……before & after….or should that be…..after and before..😂😂

Used a drill attachment with a buffing sponge and 3M Finnese-it to polish my headlights. Massive improvement! Car is tucked up in my garage but will post photos tomorrow.

Very pleased with the result.
