What have you done to your car today?

Can I be suggest you use the Park & Ride - the bus takes you to Durham town centre!

Type in either Sniperly or Howlands

Yeah, was told that by one of the curators in the Cathedral. Will do that next time as we'll definitely be going back to Durham very soon. What a beautiful city. We parked in the Prince "something or other" car park. Big multistorey.

Fitted new carpets, removed all boot trim in preparation for the tinters tomorrow, installed the small cargo nets, fitted sport pedals, replaced the pollen filter, rebuilt most of the interior, revived the seats, replaced the doorcards and then took a seat and a cool drink to go with it to admire the new look. Love it so far!

I read about what some of you do for your cars in this topic and I really feel like a bum, sometimes.
Today: topped all fluids, gave the engine a good cleaning (it was only dusty, so a quick, damp cloth did the trick, for now).

Mate: don’t. Honestly I used to do little more than swap my wheels between summer and winter. Now, through lots of “why not, let’s try” and gratuitous googling, I’ve managed to swap an interior and strip a car to a point I’d never thought I’d be able to. I’m willing to bet it’s much the same for most of us here. We all start somewhere, and always at the beginning.

Moral of the story: go try

If all goes well: painter tomorrow for the final bits

For the final bits? :o What do you plan to do with that car? Burn the eyes of the onlookers because it will shine too bright?
It looks beautiful already. Great job

Got my switchblade key done.

Fitted a replacement driver's door lock actuator to Project Freeleeta. The door would need a bit of a tug to open which got worse when it got hotter.
Already had a new bowden cable so knew it wasn't that.
This seems to have cured it.
The old unit has something loose rattling around inside it. Maybe a spring come loose or something.
Took the opportunity to fit a few new trim clips to the door panel while I was at it.
That's it! Now out of jobs I can do with a bad back.
Twiddling my thumbs to start on the suspension next.

Washed, clayed, scooted over with fine rubbing compound and polished.

And a new front aux. light arrived. The box within comically large box thing does at least ensure it arrives undamaged.

If it’s the same as the one I did Martin, it’s plastic gears inside and the teeth can shear off, that’s likely what was rattling around

Well I wondered about taking it apart but tbh, I couldn't be bothered.

You can get repair kits for about a fiver. Might be worth doing for a spare the way your going through Zeds

Andy, are we both talking about the actual latch assembly in the back of the door? With all the central locking gubbins etc?
I only had a quick look but couldn't see how to get it open. It was unlocking ok, just seemed like a spring inside had failed as the latch only sprang half open and needed a tug to pull the rest of the way.

Fitted a Bluemusic adapter. I’d never done anything like that before so it was a bit hairy getting the air vent out and then disconnecting the head unit from the cable (applying just the right amount of force without breaking something) but I managed. I stupidly started it last night whilst waiting for a Chinese so had to stop halfway through but got it installed and tested just as it was getting dark. Just need to put everything back together properly now.
