What have you done to your car today?

Fitted a tinted perspex wind deflector to my Z4, Christmas present to myself, got one on my Z3 already, couldn't justify the prices for oem deflectors for the Z4. Perspex one looks good and is fine for blocking the wind.

I agree - I got a clear Lexan shield. I had to replace the lame attachment straps with some 13mm 2 sided velcro strapping to keep it from coming loose at high speed. I'm thinking of putting some window tint on it this summer.

Replaced yesterday the DISA (the big one) due to some rattling noises and loss of engine reactivity in some cases. Does not sound as a very precise diagnostic however I had a engine light on since 1 week and had a spare DISA just waiting to be installed, so I gave it a try.
Replacement cleared the fault! Car behaves much smoother since then. DISA valve removed was soaked with oil and had a lot of play in the flap mechanism so not a bad action at all!

Hi, disa is vacuum operated & shouldn’t be soaked in oil, you’ve either got a badly worn engine (which I doubt) or a bunged up ccv system which is sending oily engine vapours back through the inlet manifold to choke up your disa/inlet valves etc :o

Hi, thanks for the inputs. My thoughts were that the oil found was coming from the DISA itself due to a bad sealing around the flap pin. When I shaked the unit, I could really hear the gears as if all the lubrication went away. Anyway, I'd like to make sure I am not overseeing the real cause and wonder how could I find out if the CCV has issue? Just keep an eye on the oil consumption?
On the electronic oil level reading (basically a bar with 4 segments, if all are gone, top up is 1l), I have 3/4 full showing. I reckon this is a very minimal quantity (250ml at most) which is missing since oil change last year and maybe 3000km. Could it be related anyway..?

Paintwork to correct a couple of minor blemishes, polish tomorrow. IMG-20200107-WA0007.jpgIMG-20200107-WA0009.jpgIMG-20200107-WA0004.jpg

At the weekend I fitted new Mintex front discs/pads and stripped/cleaned/reassembled the rears. Then I bought 2 new Avon ZZ5s for the princely sum of £160 and had them fitted on the rear...2 years and 14k miles out of the old ones :D
The car passed it's MOT today with no advisories...I'm a happy chap ! :thumbsup:20200107_234746.jpg

And it's looking good. Love the color :)

Not today, but few weeks done a few things to the Z. Brake calipers painted and fitted 230 wheels but verdicts still out on the wheels. I like the design and very easy to keep clean but for some reason still not 100% with the look on the roadster. The car is off the road at the minute so I haven’t even driven it with the new wheels so will give it time to see if I keep them. Also seen the quick mod of removing foam from the tube that leads into the cabin so have done so, but yet to hear how it sounds. Then gave the car a full detail and machine polish and wax

Took my stormforce cover off as I hadn’t fastened the straps properly due to the amount of access room I had before It took of in the high winds we’ve had recently . Probably just end up selling the cover .

New starter motor today. Started playing up on Monday and failed completely by Tuesday, glad I dropped it off at the garage Tuesday lunchtime as it wouldn't start at all for them yesterday afternoon. New one sounds about 4 times as fast as the old one.

Took me quite a while to find a decent set of 230's and once I had fitted them I was a bit meh about them. I think I kept them on the car for 2 hours before reverting back to my 224's. I wouldn't say there was any difference to how the car felt or drove with them on. What size tyres are you running on them?

Was planning to change the reg over on my Z4 (put on a cherished plate) and noticed that MOT was due to expire on Saturday!

MOT done today, passed no advisories. Local garage who I've used for a while commented that it's the first time you've brought a car to us that isn't an old POS! :D (they've been previously looking after my 200k+ E36 328 Touring).

Running 225/35/19 front 255/30/19 rear. Yeah I’m annoyed I was a little underwhelmed but will keep them for abit might grow on me 8)

Bit of activity last few weeks. Did CDV delete, well worth it, first to second most noticeable improvement. Fitted a braided clutch line when I was at it. Braided brake lines fitted as well. Then did Ultra racing strut brace, solid and well made, better than I thought for the price. Did tighten up front end. Then a Dinan air box and filter, well made and easy to fit.
Sorry about the duplicate photos, don’t see how to delete one. Cheers

Finally put my private on the Z4. Haven't used the plate for over a decade! :driving:
Here we have to pay an annual fee to retain possession of unassigned personal (private) plates.

Checked the car is still in the garage with the cover over it.
