Had the zed in for an inspection II yesterday. Offside front shock is leaking badly so that's two Bilstein B4 shocks ordered, what I can only assume was down to the previous owner only doing around 3k over the last 2 years are that all of the brake discs are quite pitted and scored so I've treated myself to new discs and pads from MTEC, drilled and grooved discs with Mintex pads. Now just to get them fitted, expensive week!

Yup, if he had been using something thinner, say a spanner, it would have gotten VERY hot VERY quickly. The other problem is when this happens, due to the current, the item can easily "weld" itself to the terminal, and things can go wrong VERY quickly. Luckily, on BMW's with the battery in the boot, you have the BSD (battery safety device) which is designed to blow using a small explosive charge in the case of a short on the main battery lead running from front to rear, whilst this may be expensive to replace, you are talking £1200 on a Zed, it "should" save the car from going up in flames...
