So still new to the Z4. One day I was looking in the "boot" and notice this "compartment" I guess you would call it. What is stored there??

Yep, you should have a warning triangle in there (loads in ebay for £10 last time I looked for someone else) and a pair of rubber straps to hold it in place. Yours are missing.
