What does 6th gear do that 5th doesnt?

Sorry four is as far as I can go back...

My first "company truck" that i drove at work : '62 Chev half ton with a Three Speed Column shift (3 on the tree). You had ta carry a large flatblade screwdriver to put the linkage back in place if you shifted too fast ! Definitely a true POS

After experiencing that I'm just so glad that there are 6, 7 and 8 speed trannies now.

My CJ10a Jeep has a 5.7 litre V8 mated to a 3 speed auto - happy days from a simpler time

Yeah but does it even hit 60? A friend of mine had one of those out in the bahamas with the big wheels...alot of fun to be had driving around deserted airbases and beaches 8) I think it topped out at 55!

my g/f drove my car 4 or 5 times before she even realised it had 6 gears. still hasn't used it tho
