What do you say when people ask how much?

I only been asked by family so will just tell them.

Friends dont bother.. and if people at work asked i would prob underprice it so they dont think i am getting paid too much :roll:

I round mine off to £50K!! :P Seriously, so far, I have never been asked. I think people I know probably just do a web check if they want to know!

Actually, in the staff car park at work mine is the most expensive in the car park, inc the MD's!! :lol:
 
I just tell them the truth, I have no problem with people knowing how much it cost. I worked hard for it, bought it after selling an investment property so :P
 
What most people dont know is how cheap Z4's actually are when used. My old 2.0i was 18 months old when i got it and only cost 13.5k yet many people will go out and buy 15-20k family cars and its these people that often ask how can you afford it. The Z4 looks more expensive then it is, its the same with my new car.

totally disagree.

One of employee's who does the same job as me, is rubbish at her job, has no happy customers, can't do a thing for herself and wont help anyone else out.
But we can't get rid of her at present because she is the only one certified on a obscure product that a percentage of our older customers still use.
Everyone else on our team are the complete opposite to her in those respects.

If I knew she was paid the same as me, I'd go mental about it, claiming it's not fair.
Similarly, if she knew I was paid more, she'd go mental about it.

Salaries, unless fixed for a role, should be kept private in the workplace, as it can only lead to bitterness and/or resentment.
 
i ALWAYS get asked this as i am so young and drive a 3.0 litre z4 (well im 24 not that young lol), i just tell them i got kicked out of school when i was 16 and worked HARD. got myself a skilled trade and work loads :D
 
Got asked about 10 mins ago by a work colleague, funny that, a thread here and i never usually get asked.
He said he saw me in the car the other day, 'how much that cost you, 30 grand?'
I jokingly said nooooo not that much and left it there.
It didnt even cost half that, but its nice to know people think it does :D
 
I get asked all the time, i just say enough..

though my friend did just come over 20 mins ago in her Mini One D thing and i happily told her it was less than her car :)
 
I get asked quite a lot and patients assume it belongs to the dentist.

Being a youngster* it seems to bother other people I can have the things I do, like others I worked my butt off straight from school and didnt start popping out babies at 16!

I've asked a few people to guess when they ask me how much I paid. Mind you, mine is an '07 that I bought a few months ago. Several folks have said $60,000. They don't have a clue as to what they are looking at, but it looks so damn good, they figure it must have been an outrageous price. Most not-BMW types guess above $40,000. I then tell 'em I paid well under what they think, as 2 seaters aren't selling well in this economy, and mine had been on the dealer's lot for 58 days. All of that is true, and I haggled to buy it for a price under blue book. An '07 is really very, very affordable when you consider that a new Mustang GT costs more than what I paid for the Z. I'd buy a 3 year old Z over a new Mustang anyday, and twice on Sunday.

Bottom line- it's none of their business. It's quite rude to ask such questions.

I know exactly how much your car cost Lucy because when I asked you 'how much' at a service station on the way to a North Yorkshire meet, I actually meant the bottle of windscreen washer fluid you'd just bought! :poke: :wink:
 
I say...... it costs enough to make me happy and put myself in debt.
