So in answer to part of your question about how we can afford free university tuition, well because there’s no reciprocal agreement the fees for my daughter to do her masters is £1820 a year which is covered by SAAS and part of the reason that’s so low because the system is partially subsidised by English/NI (and foreign students) having to pay £9750 a year, which I think is absolutely ridiculous for the English & NI students to have to pay. I’m not sure about Welsh students but I THINK they may only pay the £1820 a year as there is some sort agreement between Wales and Scotland.
My daughter will finish her degree (hopefully) with no University debt, but her NI flat mate will owe £39,000 in tuition fees plus whatever other debts incurred by living expenses which I’d estimate at £6000 per year from his student loan and any other debts like overdraft etc. A hell of a big burden for him, and countless others, to leave university with.

I find this and a number of posts of this nature under the guise of humour very distasteful...I’m not a fan of many politicians but I think using expressions like fucking bitch are hardly the mark of mature and rational conversation...or even playful banter....maybe there should be a new section with an appropriate title... :thumbsdown:
