What did you pay?

Imagine what the original guy selling it got...£21k probably....ouch! Reason, was bang in the middle of the recession...people's appetite for mid level performance cars went south.

As awful as it sounds, it was a good time to buy if you could in all levels of sports car.

Dad sold up his business in 2007. In 2009 he decided life was too short to just sit on the money, so bought a 1,500 miler R8 V8. The bloke who traded it in lost circa 30% on showroom value, but needs must as his business had taken a hit from the recession...

Heated seats , sat nav, telephone integration (curious as to why someone paid money for this as you can't hear a thing over the road noise), folding mirrors, FSH, 12 months MOT no advisories.
64k miles

That's good value....wonder what the cheapest M bought on here is? Anyone had one under £10k?
It was tired looking, the interior was manky as was the engine bay, wheels tatty, but I had them refurb most of it... today I Auto Glym'd the roof and gave it a wash, gave the interior a hardcore scrub and it's come up genuinely like new on the inside and out. It was almost like it was priced as a 'poor condition' example, but with a very basic level makeover it's turned into a gem. Definitely won't be the best example out there, but I think for the money, it's a steal. And 64k miles is still low mileage for a 9 year old car :D Definitely will be surprised if anyone gets one under 10k unless it's from auction?

Crazy what sellers will ignore, especially when they could have made a quick buck with a bit of elbow grease. Great work though doing it yourself I bet you're chuffed with the results.

But, 64k, whilst low against the UK average, is on the high side of things for Z4M's, average (at least on here) seems to be around the 45-55k mark.

I seem to remember that there have been a couple of ///MR's for sale around the £10k mark, with 100k+ mileage, mind.

Yah this was Evans Halshaw, they "claim" to have a pricing policy which means if there's another similar car up for sale they have to price it accordingly. So realistically someone down south could have an absolute banger up for sale for £11.7k with the same mileage and spec, the Halshaw one could be pristine, they'd have to adjust their price to match. That's their claim, it could be utter BS though.
Agree on the mileage it is higher than most other M's, but I've every intention (once the novelty... if the novelty wears off) of this just being a weekend/summer car. So the mileage won't increase at the normal rate, I won't be driving it to work and back every day. The last owner put 16k on it in 12 months, must have been mainly motorway miles... poor guy. He must have tinnitus by now. :dizzy:

I've put 12,000 on mine in 10 months, ears are fine

Cheeks hurt a bit from all the smiling though...

And looking at the current prices, you have driven my car for nothing during that time 8)

:D

Technically the bank owns most of it, the rest is definitively mine

Pretty chuffed it's depreciating much, much more slowly than my old car, but that isn't really important to me unless I experience some sort of crisis that means I have to get rid.

This is kinda off topic, but do you guys not get a deafening (but still nice & powerful sounding) deep drone of a noise in 6th gear ~1.5-3k revs? It's apparent during light acceleration then tails off as the revs pick up. If not, I'll see if I can catch it on a mic.

Definite rumble 50ish in 6th or 30ish in 4th that lasts for 1000 rpm or so, certainly not deafening though (but does make people look round when you want at 30  ) obviously been tuned in for that reason.

I only ever notice it under acceleration in 6th from about 50, and actually quite enjoy it, along with the amazing pull you get even in a high gear at relatively low speed. Most of the time in 6th I'm cruising at 75/80 on a motorway and it's not intrusively loud at that speed. Wind noise picks up a bit of course, but I'm just used to that now after nearly 3.5 years driving a roadster. In all honesty I drive the car in a way that allows me to hear the noise anyway. It's a huge part of what I love about it, especially roof down :driving:

Fixed that for you Bing 8)

Have to say my Zed sounds eerily quiet in all gears but I guess that depends what your baseline is for comparison -ie my last toy was a highly tuned Caterham HPC Evo 2.0 on twin Weber 48's,a megaflow 4/1 exhaust and a straight cut quaffe box -I had to wear Etymotic ear plugs just to make it bearable even on short blats .Amazing fun to drive but became rather wearing in the end and hence had to go .

Yea the drone is usually in 6th at around 1.5-3k revs, I think it might have just been the exposure to it over 3 hours which was getting to me... I took it out today and it didn't bother me at all.
