I'm looking for suggestions for a practical, economical and reliable car and wondered what your SENSIBLE AND CONSTRUCTIVE  suggestions may be.
Some requirements
Below 135 g/km emissions petrol, sub 120 g/km diesel
I get concerned by DPFs on diesels, tend not to like really tiny turbocharged petrol engines (e.g. <1000cc) in biggish bodies
I want to be able to carry a bike or two inside plus 3 passengers. Failing that, something easy to put a bike rack on (perhaps able to have a towbar or roof rails)
£12k max
No more than two years old.
Scared of more than 30k miles
Will be financed so if there are any manufacturer funded deals, then a bonus.
Ideally would like 1 year/15k max
Needs to be under warranty for a good while. Modern cars without a warranty scare me.
My future mileage is unknown. Realistically I will be able to do some business travel by train but will do 270 miles a week at my own expense and then on site visits on expenses wherever I can't easily get to by train.
Easy access to dealerships
Cars considered so far:
Used
BMW 3 Touring (stretching money possibly)
Mercedes C estate
New
Dacia Logan MCV (strangely drawn to these!)
Skoda Roomster 1.2TSi 86PS £9900 new/7.9% APR
Skoda Fabia 1.2 TSi 86PS estate £9995 new/7.9% APR
Nearly new - yr old/15k ish miles
Vauxhall Insignia diesel
VW Golf diesel (stretching the budget)
