What are the Positives of COVID-19 for you?

Just got back from local Walmart. I always go on Saturday, usually around 7:00-ish. Well they now open at 7:00 (used to be a 24hrs. Walmart), there was a line waiting to get in.

The good...Hard to believe but people seemed far friendlier than usual, more polite in the aisles and somewhat talkative. Maybe everyone dealing with the same or similar problems makes them relate to others in the same boat..?? Not sure what but surely noticed a difference.

Might spur me on to go back to work. I retired from schools a few years ago and then did agency HGV driving for a year. The agency I used has a number of food producers looking for class 1 fridge drivers (which I used to do) so while I'm able I might see how it goes and if the night time road closures are still as bad - which was why I stopped .... and a bit of cash is always useful for more tools or machinery

Assuming I can finish the building job I'm doing at home in the next couple of weeks!

I've noticed that cyclists on shared pathways have stopped whizzing past me and the dog with a 2cm gap, and instead slow down and let us move aside first.

going to save a reasonable amount of money... unable to go out at the weekends, not needing to fuel the car to drive to work, and not spending money on holidays will probably save a couple of grand a year, which will likely be put towards paying off mortgages and ultimately retiring that little bit sooner.

Globally with over 400,000 infected and 100,000 fully recovered there is a big pool of blood from which to draw antibodies.

Sharpened the lawn mower blade. Now waiting for the grass to dry enough for cutting. Day 14 :headbang:

Went inside, sat in the chair, stared at the floor. Dog came over and said "Now you know why I chew on the furniture."
Then he opened the door looked me in the eye and said "You stay here, I'll be back" :poke:

  Love it, payback

I assume now that the police will stop the "travellers" from spreading the virus as well as dispersing them from the various illegal camps where they are far too close to each other 8)

One positive is for our dog, Gracie, she is getting like 5+ walks a day, as each one of us goes out, so much so when you sit down you get the look,,,,

With that look I would give in and take her out again she looks so sad :( I remember many moons ago someone knocking on my door collecting for some charity I cannot remember which but he had a Boxer dog with him and it was the sad look on the dogs face that made me give him some money

Nothing really had to postpone all life plans. House buying/new car/getting married the lot is on hold. Only + is her indoors got offered a teaching position at her training school

The only positives I see/hear are the amount of birds that I constantly hear chirping and tweeting in the trees.
Normally the usual day to day noise drowns all this out. Its quite nice to listen to.

Not much, but I have a busy A Road behind my back garden and when I'm outside I've noticed how much quieter it is! And I can also hear birdsong now.

Best news though is with the schools closed the chav teen from next door but one doesn't walk across my garden every afternoon and stare in my window with a gormless expression on his face - little twunt! :headbang:

Then today at Tesco I drove straight to a pump and brimmed my Z4 on Momentum for just £113.9 a litre. :D Shame I had filled my 3 Series on the 14th.

The biggest plus for me has been the delayed implementation of IR35.

Working from home is great

Low fuel prices for the trips out on quiet roads

Time to do car jobs. Just finished my suspension refresh on the E46

Quieter roads for those essential journeys, cycling and horse riding
Which means less polution and noise, which means more birdsong
No football which means certain friends have to find something else to talk about
There is more of a community spirit in the village - e.g. I've just hung some decorations, and put a teddy bear in the window for the kids on their govt-sanctioned-once-a-day
My misanthropic personality is now okay, and telling people to get the f**k away from me is now socially responsible, not rude
My wife cant organise social events, which means I don't have to spend days complaining about having to go
Social distancing in supermarkets means not having to rub shoulders with Capt. Halitosis who hasn't had their annual bath yet
