What are the Positives of COVID-19 for you?

For me the first thing is that hugging each other is gone. I really hated it. To me, hugging is for those people you really love, close family etc.

None....can’t think of a single one good thing.....and just makes me really really sad to see the behaviour of far too many people. The sooner we get on top of it and I can not have to see such selfishness the better. :(

Agree with what you say John, but we see it on the roads all the time as drivers, so.... we should not be surprised.

Everyone becoming way more conscientious/appreciative of basic hygiene and how easy it is to infect themselves and others with inconsiderate sneezing, coughing and not washing hands etc.

I ended up in ICU for 3 months of my life with pericarditis, probably transmitted to me virally by someone else and probably via one of the aforementioned methods.
Since then I stopped shaking hands at meetings with a polite but clear rationale and I’m now practically ocd when it comes to hygiene.

Hand shaking needs to stop for ever now. I hope that becomes a social norm and replaces the stigma or awkwardness that can sometimes be created by those who elect not to shake hands.

Yes I know (sigh) ....I should stop moaning and being a miserable b***ard about it as well...

The only benefit I've seen is that I'm saving £300/week in travel/accommodation costs.

I remember a World Cup game (sorry football) in Germany a few years ago, Ian Wright (as a pundit) was moaning about the players in other teams 'diving' and getting penalties as a result. Later in the programme, England were playing and Steven Gerard went down after a supposed tackle. England were awarded a penalty from which they scored and won the game. The camera angles after the tackle showed that the defender was about 0.5 of a metre short of Gerard's legs and did not trip him. Ian Wright 'changed his tune' at that point and said, well if they do it, we should do it and I think that is where we are now. Everybody is doing it!

Its made me acutely aware the there are a lot of selfish gits out there - but that there a few decent people as well.
Being in self isolation, I hope to have the help of a few of those decent people and see some of the selfish gits suffer the rewards they deserve.

Zero sport happening
actively encouraged to isolate
fuel prices have dived

very unlikely to go on a sunbed holiday ( wife usually wants to at least once a year  )
more time spent with my two terriers
more time actually talking to my parents rather than the odd casual meaningless txt every few days
lastly we might actually get to the bottom of our freezer at some point soon & that will be a big achievement  some stuff been in there years :P

obviously there are negatives but you didn't ask for those

You can drive from A to B a lot easier
Should see a slimmer waistline on some of the nation (apart from the knackers who are hoarding) at the end of it

We've stopped talking about Brexit and no one cares how you voted

I'm not convinced buzy has yet!

While I feel sorry for him personally, at least Michel Barnier won't be involved in Brexit negotiations for a while - then again I can't see much happening on that front for a while anyway.

Well I am now working from home and though I used to think that would be great, I have come to appreciate my time with my co-workers more than I thought I would. I also am not longing for that retirement day as much as I had recently...What with the 401K probably taking a major hit (I'm not looking), retirement may be more than a couple years away as I had hoped.

Yes, the roads over here are far less busy but who wants to really go out and with places closing by the score...where is there to go.

I do think family is pulling together more...even though they may keep their distance, I think we have come to appreciate each other a bit more of late.

As someone else mentioned, gas (petrol) prices are way down. I can see some pleasure cruises in my future just to pass the time and enjoy the Z.

Wishing all the forum members (and their families) good health and may God Bless !!!

I have around 4,000 vinyl LPs to listen to, may of which I haven't used in several years, so now I have the excuse to spend time doing that. As there are a similar number of bottles in the wine cellar, I just need to establish guidelines for coordinating the two. I figure listen to two records (4 sides) and open a bottle of wine. Repeat until sundown and start again after breakfast the next morning.

Just enjoy driving on the quite roads. Why would you want to stop anywhere. It's the driving that you can enjoy without hiderance.. Not the destination.

I think a whole better way of living and working will evolve after this passes - would like to think the divisions created these past few years will heal a little as countries recognise we all need to work together to beat this !

Ironic that the real heroes are the NHS workers and the lowest paid like supermarket cashiers , drivers etc who leave themselves at risk constantly to ensure we can get food .

I'm trying to take a more positive view of all of this, starting with watching the news less and sticking to radio stations with less coverage of it all as it becomes depressing. I don't know why but I keep comparing it to the last war and the London, Coventry blitz's, then you really had something to worry about, severe food shortages, petrol rationing, food, clothing coupons, chance your house might not be there the next day, your kids being sent away, what's happening now is bad but really it could be far worse. People today have never known anything except a good, plentiful life and are suddenly discovering no coping mechanism. The positive is there's lots of good being done out there that at least counter balances the greed of others.

Tim.
