Went to put my roof down today but.........

@Bing, it doesn't even need to be out that far, even slightly pulled out is enough to stop the roof opening

Yep, I know. But I don't have a part pulled out pic like you, either all out or all in mate, no half measures

@Jonny, I am not sure what you mean, but if you can't see the black fabric in the boot then the shelf is up. Turn the knobs on either end to put it down.

Though IIRC if the shelf is up then the light flashes orange, not red...

ah, pictures. Now we are talking at JE level

It's pretty sad that between us all we have pictures of so many of the most minute details of our cars

In this case I was delighted I could go picture-book just for Jonny

Of no help to you Jonny, but I come on here sometimes and wonder if I should praise you all for being so dedicated to sharing the most amazing knowledge of Zeds, or encouraged to get a life :poke: Either way. It's great being here!!! Hope the roof gets fixed...

Pleased you got an easy fix but as your ex red roof brother Jonny I can hold back no longer - I get increasingly worried by you - just how can you ever get any real motoring enjoyment out of a Z4 or any other roadster if you never drive it and never put anything in the boot for a day /weekend / trip away ?

Jonnny - you NEED a road trip man, no-one in the history of motoring needs one more - get up to Scotland / Wales/ N. Yorkshire - try some proper traffic free driving roads - let loose - get some flies on the bonnet & windscreen ( they wash off afterwards), mud on the tyres, pack the boot full of stuff, have lunch at a pub, meet other drivers, spend some money on petrol and tyre wear - hundreds of folk on this forum and elsewhere will testify it's WAY more fun, value and life changing than e.g. backlit door sills. It's a big world out there - even just in the UK and a Z4's a great place to enjoy it from.

Think I might get a campaign going for " Get Jonny E on a road trip" before I get chucked off the forum for defecting to the big P !

+about 1 million

There's no point in owning a car like this if you don't use it for fun stuff - doesn't need to be a DD but decent roadtrips are great, and things like last year's Skye run make you glad to be alive 8)

I am with Jax and Perry mate. Just because you're modding the car doesn't mean you cannot drive it - get out there man. Seriously, waiting until you think it's perfect will result in you never using it. Because you'll always be tinkering. And then you'll be dead.

Stop posting  every time you see photos from a meet and live a little

@pvr - that pop at Perry was just mean

I suppose your right. I've only got 260bhp - nowt but a golf buggy!

Joking apart, glad you got the lid sorted at zero cost

+1 get out ....this is how i packed my boot for the kit car show. ... even squeezed in a tent + sleeping bag + toothbursh

Not a bad effort Dom

Sadly the battery 'costs' two pack of beer in my car
