the only problem with the rain beading on the roof, is that it takes longer to dry... i like the roof to be dry before i put it downmark1982 said:Cheers. Just want the rain to bead off instead of soaking in.

The one which goes on after the cleaner, can't remember the name, gives good beading but I think still allows some water through- as the design was intended because when it really pisses down it looks untreated. Sorry I can't be more scientific!Adamski said:Does the Autoglym provide water proofing? My car hasn't been rained on since I did my roof...?

Shields mate! ill try the autoglym as this seems to get the most votes and also probs cheaper then the bmw stuff!Gremlin500 said:mark1982 said:Any1 recommend any specific product to use when macking the roadster top waterproof?
Is that a Sunderland accent I hear? ( Northeast joke)
I've used Renovo products -excellent, but the colour reviver you have to mask off very well and if over-applied can leak inside door shuts and be a pain to clean off later (great results like new, though), but the proofer really beads little spheres of water, and lasts a couple of years, but pricey.
The Autoglym and BMW proofers are both good too, I also used Fabsil on my old TVRs for many years, also great stuff, and so cheap, so gets my vote.
I don't think you can go wrong with any of the above really, but a good idea to use a good cleaner first, then dry the roof thoroughly before application.
Good idea to mask off body and windows first to save labour later.

Thanks Adamski, so Autoglym protector is good stuff?Adamski said:Been debated before Jon. Whether or not water proofing is required.
I'm happy to use a protector to make cleaning easier. I don't see any need for full water proofing.

...doesn't that mean that the top layer should be left alone.
I'd love to see water beading on the roof, but surely BMW know what they're doing?
