Watches

The most I ever spent on a watch is about a hundred pounds. If i'd saved and bought only one with the cash I wasted then I'd prob have bought a MontBlanc Timewalker.

My current casual fave to wear though is this one; Swatch Irony

TAG carrera calibre 7 as my 'special occasion' watch, was my 30th birthday present from my wife. Every other day two Chinese cheap skeleton watches, ones an IKColouring, don't think the other even has a brand on it!

Clearly too much money here... think I'm in the wrong place...

I got a TAG Carrera, bought in Vietnam for $10 - lasted a year....

That's probably where half the watches are from on this forum - we just dont know it..!

Like another member that claims to have an expensive watch, yet wanted to save cash on a £280 service

Juat bought the first watch of my adult life, Seiko Actura, I would like an Omega Seamaster for special occasions like the ones people have posted on here. For now though this will do...

I used to have a Hugo Boss watch which I loved, looked like this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/rbakkers/4197017051/in/photostream

But it was nicked in a house burglary and I've not been able to ever replace it with anything I like, so I've taken to not wearing a watch :(

They do make a modern version of it, but the dial is more cluttered with more obvious numerals, plus they switched to glass rather than crystal and generally it looks cheaper in comparison, *sigh*.

Do rather fancy a Rolex Explorer (http://www.watches.co.uk/watch/11946s/rolex-explorer-114270/) but can't bring myself to spend that much money on one.

rolex presidential 18k gold but without the gold bracelet as i think its over the top, as a watch dealer its the only brand i would spend my own money on (this is not my full time job) not because they are the best watches (far from it) but they are about the only brand that if kept pristine will make you money after wearing for ten years

SWATCH...
I met a guy in mauritious who was Swiss (wealthy guy owned a large pharmaceutical company) and he noticed my watch and got chatting about them.
He has only ever wore swatch watches (he was late 50s) he then went on to tell me about rolex etc and the movements of each watch. He did day brietlings were good tags and rolexes not so much nowadays :o
Probably a bit like the old school land owners and gentry I meet when shooting, beat up old forrester or Volvo estate is what they drive.
Some of the "new money" guns come along with all the gear, expensive clothes, guns and RR and AMG jeeps but are hopeless

All very impressive boys and girls, not into watches that much so have a cheap and cheerful day watch, slim Rotary dress watch in gold with a leather strap and GF got me a nice chunky looking Armani Stainless steel watch for my birthday ....Hope I'm not letting the standards drop :D
