Oris are fantastic watches. I have had the Diver/date for about 5 years and the fit and finish is right up there with my Breitling, for considerably fewer $$. (Full disclosure - I was the moderator of the Oris forum on a watch site for a few years, so I have a soft spot for these watches, although I feel it's completely justified. Have a good look at one and compare it to more expensive brands - you'll have to look very hard to see what you're paying the extra for with some other brands...).
I also recommend Ball watches, but I'm not sure what sort of representation they have in the UK? Also, not being a great fan of skeleton watches, I can't really recommend any brands/models - but best of luck with the hunt.
Also agree with the comments about TAG - don't buy one if you want something with any resale value, or something that others will necessarily appreciate. Tag's appeal has dimmed considerably over the past few years. Having said that, I love the Tag Carerra - CV2014.BA0794 (google it), and own a Tag 1000 Spirotechnique, so I'm not putting the brand down myself.
There is plenty of help available on the watch forums, but beware of the watch 'snobbery' that creeps in on some forums in particular (not naming names here) - take all advice under consideration but always choose what you love and you'll be happy.
