Watch Repair and Despair final update

Thanks again everyone

Hi Ron, I've got to pluck up the courage to change the strap now :o

Hi Rob, thankfully Tag covered the case replacement although at first when LWR mentioned the damage to Tag they replied back they would be happy to provide me with a quote cheeky sods so I had to have a moan to LWR and Tag then had a change of heart and covered the cost.

Great result Tim,

I wouldn’t send my watch back to Tag again either after what happened with mine when they ‘serviced it’ they did resolve my issues in the end but it was a lot of hassle.

Hopefully you can now put it behind you are enjoy the watch :)

Thanks alot, ironically I was going to send it straight to Tag in the first place but changed my.mind, but then I wasn't expecting LWR to send it onto Tag :headbang:

It's whether I would use LWR again, perhaps not for my Tag but to be fair to them it wasn't their fault and they did put things right which it some ways is in their favour. Its just when you do delve into reviews of them the biggest gripe is lack of communication and time taken in servicing so not so sure really.

If you were send a watch to them a “Hey it’s me! Do you remember what happened last time?” note along with the watch wouldn’t do any harm

I bet they will take extra good care.

Good idea Ron or they might say we're closed :D

I wonder if they got to the bottom of it at the other end and know exactly what happened.
There can only be a few possibilities with one of them being an employee trying to pull a fast one.

On the same watch repair / refurbish topic, an old pal had his Rolex GMT Master refurbed by Rolex - it came back to him like a brand new watch. Over a cuppa we discussed his options, wear it? Sell it? Keep it in the safe?
He couldn’t decide and left it on the shelf next to his armchair - a couple of weeks later I got a phone call to say the watch in it’s Rolex Box had disappeared - he suspected his wife had thrown an “empty” box into the bin in a tidy up frenzy!
The house was thoroughly searched without any success.

You know the anguish the damage case has caused you Tim - can you start to imagine how he felt?

No - it’s never ever been seen.
He waited a few years and claimed the insurance but the value had risen and it was under insured by a lot of £££’s

He said it took some explaining to the insurers - he was convinced it was in the house but alas,,,,,,!

I wouldn’t blame anyone for saying that it was nothing but a silly story but unfortunately my old pal went to his grave never knowing what ever happened to it.

I fully believe his suspicions that it was thrown out - last I saw if it was in a green Rolex transport cardboard box in the Royal Mail brown address box next to his armchair.

Rolex had done a superb job of it as well - looked like a new watch.

I guess Ron you have to look at it as there's always someone else worse off than yourself :)

LWR haven't offered any explanation. I suspect Tag simply mixed up the case with another watch bizarre as that sounds. I just can't believe a watchmaker would do that kind of damage whilst working on a watch, if they did they shouldn't be in a job

At least LWR did come good on it but it was just an unnecessary faff and disheartening when I'd spent £550 for a service :o
