Watch Repair and Despair final update

I’m not sure I trust “Trust Pilot “ any more!
That Luxury Watch place gets some cracking reviews but after your experience they now all sound a bit contrived - can they be trusted to be publishing honest and truthful reviews?

I went off their Trust Pilot reviews Ron but doing some Googling around the watch forums there was mention their reviews are invited from Luxury Watch Repairs from their customers, so guessing once you have your watch serviced by them they badger you to leave a review. Unsure if that is a good or bad thing, whichever way it hasn't done me any favours

I think I will try to go from personal recommendations.
This Forum, although Z4 based as we all know, has provided me with some very good helpful information - being retired there isn’t that ever ready pool of knowledge to tap into.
At work there was a huge pool of expertise to call on.

I guess also the majority of the work they do/sub out is perfectly acceptable and you have just been the unlucky one, hopefully they get it back to looking like new and you can go back to enjoying it!

Many thanks, hope so too

A small company I know, not watches or cars, uses trustpilot and they decide which customers are surveyed. They activly only email people with no issues. Anyone that has had any kind of issue they don't survey, not that things go wrong often or anything, they just fiddle the reviews. Knowing that, for smaller companies, I wouldn't trust trust pilot as I know how easy it is to manipulate.

Easy to say all that after the fact though. Hope it gets sorted for you Tim

Thanks alot, thats exactly how I've heard it with Trust Pilot, which sort of makes it a bit useless as ideally you also want to know which companies to avoid :|

Just for the record, having dealt with them frequently, trust pilot are like the mafia protection squads - those that pay get good rating, those who refuse to pay are left with the negative ones.

Hi all,
Bit of an update.

After 2 weeks of not hearing anything back from LWR I chased them up twice this week by email as they are not taking phone calls due to Covid :?

They said they had been in touch with Tag who said they were unable to repair the watch case with polishing etc as it is too badly damaged but we're happy to give a quotation to replace the watch case, cheeky feckers.

I had it out with LWR saying Tag should be doing it for free so LWR said they would send photos of the watch they took when they first received it from me, why they didn't send the photos to Tag anyways I don't know :headbang:

Half hour later another email from LWR to say Tag have agreed to cover the repair cost and replace the watch case, so in other words they've held their hands up and admitted they damaged the watch.

So hopefully its a result, I just hope it won't be the same chimpanzee who did the first repair

Any indication when they will send it to you?
I suspect there’s been a mix up and they’ve sent someone else’s case to you !

Well Tim, that's a result. Apart from the total hassle you've had this is the best outcome you could've hoped for

At least you know it'll be pristine when you eventually get it back

They said it should be done by 25th March, so hoping it will be.

Tag haven't given any explanation I guess they won't but the case mix up sounds most likely. I just can't believe a repairer would damage a watch like it was.

Thanks Andy, not sure I will be using Tag again anyways.

A positive if only fair result, if anything a little gesture of goodwill owed to you for your inconvenience, well done on sticking with it
