Was it you? The sale price has been revealed.....

What is it you wanted to speak with the new owner about? Are you considering buying it from them, for the project?
That would be my business. And had you read the 1st post you would know I have no interest in buying it off them.
If I wanted to spend over the odds on that then I would've done so.

I will continue to be patient and look for another project.

Sorry if that came across blunt.

My apologies for asking. Good luck with your search. 👍
No need to apologise. It was likely my interpretation and I interpreted it as a bit nosey. I bit and typed bluntly. As with all text exchanges, context and tone can be the hardest to convey.
All good here. 👍🏼

As the purchaser has not come forward I will share the screenshot of what it sold for highly overpriced in my opinion see what you think
£4950 excluding fees. Including fees was £5770.

That seems huge money given the damage and it'll be recorded as a cat S or N, or err something.

If someone pays a price for something, that is it’s market price.

Not sure how much these are worth these days, perhaps ~10k

Xenons and a front end from an E85 in the region of £1000 (because of the lights) perhaps even a whole donor e85 with rear end damage.

Could still work out at 30% off a used one on similar miles (provided all work was done by the buyer)

Why has the title been changed to add:

"The sale price has been revealed..... "

I dont think anyone is too concerned with what the new owner decided to pay. Let them crack on with their project.

lt seems you're unhappy you lost the auction, and now ridiculing the wining bid numerous times.
Maybe trying grab some cheap parts from the new owner?
Move on and let the new owner do what they please with the car. 👍

So you are happy to spread details of (someone else's) car purchase and previous owner's posts over the public internet but get all secretive and tetchy when someone asks a perfectly reasonable question in this instance?

I'm not unhappy, quite relieved as it happens. I'd be more peeved if I'd have missed out by a couple of hundred, but a couple of thousand, then I cannot grumble.
As you'll all no doubt will have read, I intentionally did not reveal the sale price out of respect. I would have like the opportunity to have asked the buyer a couple of questions but at the same price, I was not in a position to consider an offer to buy it.

As the buyer has not chosen to reach out, that is, even if they're on this forum, my questions will go unasked and unanswered.

I also felt it was a worthwhile subject to talk about. Some seemed to choose to to read in-between the lines and conjour up other scenarios that don't exist or questions that don't need asking.

Yes I understand everyone has an opinion just as everyone has an arsehole, and people will have various curiosities and others will just not read properly and misinterpret.

I've said my piece.
I'm not here to cause arguments or fall out.

Admin, please close this thread or delete it altogether.

Well it certainly sold for silly money for a Cat N!

I didn't get much more for my straight 91K mile manual Montego Blue Sport Coupe in 2020.

Please keep it civil everyone.

Ouch, that’s big money. Interested to see how much it is resold for, or if stripped for parts.
Do you know the reg and vin? Buyer beware if it’s fixed up.
Does look like full leather.😍
Owner must have been gutted, bloody EVs spontaneously combusting all the time.
What makes you think it was an EV that initially caught fire? MikeyH's throwaway suggestion perhaps and nothing else, or have I missed something?

I think there have been quite a few reports of Teslas etc catch fire no?

Seems a lot of money for a CAT car that is likely going to need a fair amount spent on it to get it up and running. Hopefully it is saved and not broken for bits

A humble opinion,

But if I was the buyer and even if I was on this forum, I’m not sure I would reach out.

This is mysterious and no clear reason as to why the buyer would want to talk.

Whats in it for them?

Just be up front as to your intentions and you are more likely to get a response, if they want to reach out after reading why.

Uncertainty puts people off.

Here’s a different angle; maybe it was bought for a track car. Strip and sell the unnecessary bits and it’s not a bad deal.

Whoever bought it, it’s their business and that’s how it should stay.

But on the other hand, most E86 owners are enthusiasts and most enthusiasts are happy to talk to each other.

For all the buyer knows, OP was reaching out with a offer of a cheap front end.

Always worth chatting to people, that's how luck happens. Years ago a bloke stopped in my in the street as I got into my ageing alfa. Turns out his had been in the garage for 3 years and his wife has given the ultimatum. Free to me as an Alfa enthusiast..
